Q47 V47 ---- 760 I would be happy to answer any questions. Verbal was not difficult. 4 reading comprehension passages, all fairly short. Sentence correction/Critical Reasoning was on par with the Official Guide. It is very important to remain calm during the exam. I personally did not feel that I was doing too well during the exam. In fact, most people who achieved high scores felt they underperformed during the exam. Remain calm and focus on completing the exam in the allotted time. Prior to taking the exam, I completed the Official Guide guide, Kaplan GMAT 800, Kaplan GMAT Verbal Workbook, Princeton GMAT book. The only practice tests I completed were the two PowerPrep tests (780, 790 -- both after OG). IMO, Kaplan 800 is a great book. Kaplan simply copied/reworded the more difficult questions from the Official Guide and GMAT Plus. I personally recommend this book. It helped me breeze through the sentence correction/critical reasoning. Good luck to all the future test takers. |

Congratulations, dan - great job!!!
![]() Now that's what I'd call a well balanced quant/verbal score ![]() Interesting to hear that you, too, felt you weren't doing all that well during the exam. I bet you're glad you didn't cancel your score, though! Best of luck with your applications! Have you decided yet where you want to apply? |

Thank you all for the congratulations, what a warm bunch of members!
I will be taking the LSAT in two months, I'm interested in the JD/MBA program at Harvard or Columbia. Quantitative was on par with the more difficult questions in the Official Guide. I only saw 1 VERY easy combination problem, 1 challenging probability problem, a handful of average problems, no standard deviation problems. Two or three geometry problems. If you can do all of the Official Guide math problems, you'll do just fine. I did use www.deltacourse.com for a review of combo/permu/prob questions. OG is the bible. Kaplan GMAT 800 is great for the verbal section. It helped me see things more clearly. Read it thoroughly, don't just skim it. I highly recommend this book. GMAT Plus did not help me at all. I used Arco for the AWA. I basically memorized two templates. Ursula, I read most of your posts prior to taking the GMAT, thank you for your help! All of your info/advice was spot on! |

Congrats on your Wonderful Score. I have couple of questions for you. Did you try all the 6 GMAT plus study books? Can you elaborate why GMAT plus did not help you? After completing Official Guide twice, I am entirely banking on the GMAT plus questions for practice. Also, I almost remember all the answers for the Official Guide questions in SC, critical reasoning & to a certain extent reading comprehension. This prompted me to plunge into GMAT Plus and I have completed 2 study books. OfCourse I am not convinced with some of the answers and refer to the previous postings for a detailed explanation. Currently I am also pursuing a 9-week Course in Manhattan GMAT to augment my prep. Any advice in this regard is welcome from any member. Thanks in Advance |
