Hmm about your first para. I am not sure what made you write that but just want to say that if any of my sentence made you feel bad then I apologize for that. Its good that you have good background. You would be surprise to hear that my parents even don't know what GMAT is and what does this score means. Anyways, you asked for a partical example of how OG can be used to learn concepts that can be used in actual SC problem. Consider OG10 example 205. In explaination the author mentions below sentences: " Choice E uses the correct verb form, is, but it incorrectly introduces a dependent adverbial although clause into a prepositional phrase (with crests ...). Choice D also makes this error. Such dependent clauses can only occur in the predicates of full clauses. C, the best choice, uses the correct verb form, is, and correctly puts the although clause inside the predicate of the relative clause (that... rapidly)." There are many concepts one can learn here and apply in other real time problems. For example from above we come to know that a depedent clause cannot be used in a prepositional phrase. It has to be used in the predicate of the sentece. If you know this concept and you find any example in actual test where this rule is not respected then you can straight away eliminate that option. Smae way consider OG10 example 260 The author mentions: " The adverbial so that can modify verbs (e.g., decreased) but not nouns (e.g., the decrease)." We learn something here too. So from each example in OG10 and OG11 you will learn some or other concept which you have t oapply in your test. Lets me know if you have any other queries. |

Regarding your questions: 1. As i mentioned in my debrief that I didn't had a good idea about all gramatical concepts. I new what is noun, adverb and adjective little well. But Iwas not aware aobout rule around verb, conjunction, preposition etc. In this basic boks I fine tuned my htis concepts. Concepts such as Participle, Gerund, infinitive, subject, object, predicate, phrase, clause, types of sentences, mood of sentences etc. I never completed the book. But i brushed up this concepts and during my studies whenever I came across new grammatical connotation used by othe members I went to the books to understand the meaning. When I use to not get good understanding I use google it and find better explanation. 2. The folder is a shared folder to public. I am not sure why people are not able t oget there. Pleae PM me your email ID and I will send a invite to it so that you can directly access it . |

Congartulations star 321. looks like hardwork pays off ..
And thanks for all the suggestions .. It has given me some direction to start with .. But I have coouple of questions : 1) When I searched for SC 1000 on esnsips., I got some PDF with footer as Scoretop.com. Is that the one you were reffereing ? And I just got the key but not the explanation of that... 2) What to do for reading comprehension ? For SC and critical reasoning i think I got enough of things to start with .. 3) I am planning to start with Wren and Martin .. Do you think its a good start ? 4) Are OG10 and OG11 very different ? I have book of OG11 but if OG10 is very different then I wll look for it as well . |

1. Yes i guess you got the correct document. 2. For reading comprehension I only did OG10 and OG11. I relied on critical reasoning preparation to do reading comprehension. I just made sure what needs to be taken care of while doing reading comprehension. I have mentioned that in my Debrief. 3. Hmmm, this is little tricky. Start with Wren and martin only if your basics are bad. But if you feel they are good then you can do Manhattan Sentence Correction book. And Later in preparation you can use Kaplan 800 for more difficult problems. 4. Yes OG10 and OG11 are different. OG11 contians good explaination for SC problems but Ifound math good in OG10. Even the verbal section is good in OG10. So do try to get OG10 also. I guess yu will get that on esnsips.. |
