Just finished my GMAT one hour ago. First of all I would like to express my great admiration for this forum. Without this forum, I would not have even achieve this score.... Erin, you rock... Please count me in among the several others who have offered you a drink
. You certainly deserve more than one drink ![]() Well, I am a bit disappointed for not seeing the magic 7 as the first number . My prep scores were consistenly over 700 (excluding Kaplan, which I promptly ignored after seeing numerous posts here)About my test: The two essays were pretty easy. I had prepared a template and this section passed by without any hassle. At the end of the essays, I felt a little confident at the way the test was progessing. My quant started of with a very simple problem. The next few questions were on standard deviation, probability and mean, median. All these were data sufficiency ones and quite hard. As with many other posts, I felt that the quant section was much tougher than the Official Guide. One piece of advice.. Please read the basics of probability and standard deviation thoroughly. Even if it is a simple problem and you dont know the basics, you will still feel the pinch if these problems pop up in the first ten questions. During my practice tests, I always had 10-15 mins to spare. On the real GMAT, it was a crazy race against time. I think I got more data sufficiency problems than PS. Throughout the quant section, I felt that I was doing really bad. Somehow the fear that I might have answered the standard deviation questions kept my moral low. My last question was something about polygons. with one minute to spare, I couldnt even understand the question. The dreaded "quant was bad" feeling haunted me throughtout verbal. Inspite of all the posts about not getting into panic mode, I still couldnt help myself. In the 5 minute break, I kept telling myself not to worry about the quant section and focus on verbal. Verbal started of with SC and had about 5 SCs before the reading comprehension. Then, as though I was the chosen one, I had back to back RCs. I calmed myself and attacked the passage. The first two were only 35-40 lines. I thought that I had started bad with verbal. Then I had SC and CRs. There were very few CRs I guess. Mostly SCs. Then around the 22 question, I got this huge passage.. 120 lines.. Because of poor time management, I was already running late. Psychologically, I was happy to get a lengthy passage, which I thought implied that I was doing well on the test. By the time I reached the 33 question, I had 10 mins left and to top it all pops an reading comprehension. Was only 35 lines but had to skim through it at lightning speed. I had 10 seconds to spare when I answered my last question. The questions were comparable to the tougher part of Official Guide here too. I thought for a minute before accepting the score. I was quite surprised to see that I had score 50 in quant. My 34 in verbal was hit by the "quant fear" I guess BottomLine: I am trying for part-time MBA at Univeristy of Chicago or Kelloggs. Do you feel that I should retake the test ? One thing is for sure. People, please don't just read through the posts on the forum. Participate actively and you will see that your skills improve tremendously. I was not an active participant and feel that I could have gained much more by active participation. thanks venkat |

Basically it depends on whether you plan to apply for part-time or full time. I have heard that people have got admit into the part time program at UofC with scores of 620.. Of course, scores are not the only factor in your admission. How are you other credentials ? Quote:

My other stats are : Age:26 MSEE..3.1 Working as Electronic Control Systems Engineer For a MNC. career progression is good. Total Years: 4 years of experience Essays are OK... Yet to write them..but have to hurry Please let me know..the only thing that is worrying me is that when I attended one of their open houses, they told me that the average score is 660...ands I am below the average...The verbal score that I got is the worst score that I ever got in any practice exams..I always scored above 35 including kaplan...I must have done something really bad....
