I took my GMAT today and got 460. I had 38 percentile in Math and 19 in Verbal. I atleast need 600 to get into the school I want. Any suggestions on how to improve this score. I have being reading OG Guide, Kaplan, Manhattan Word Problem, Number Properties. My school prefer 50 + percentile on Math. So I want to concentrate on Math. Please advise which other books I should read. I also want to take GMAT prep classes, which prep classes are good in US. I read lots of different advise, but can someone list it out please.
Thanks |

Hey Patel,
So sorry you didn't get the score you wanted or expected. I know your pain, since I too wanted 600+ and I ended up getting 480. ![]() But I feel I have at least another round in me, and I have rescheduled the test for this monday. ![]() I suggest you do the same. Thanks to the board I have restructured my practice formula and am noticing noticeable improvements. I have stopped memorizing formulas and concepts and am practicing speed and reaction time, by practicing OG questions again, and again and again. That is the only way to develop your speed. Work on a practice packet daily. I do 30 of each math section, 20 of each verbal and 4 reading comps. I feel much more prepared at Gday -7 days. Practice makes perfect! Keep your head up!!!

Hey Patel,
I took my GMAT today as well, and scored a 450, so I know exactly how you feel right now. (You can see my topic posted prior to yours.) I plan on taking the exam yet another time, and will also incorporate the suggestions m.campanella has proposed. I went to mba.com, and you can take the GMAT again 31 days after your test date. |

What were your scores on the practice tests you did? How many CATs did you do? I'm always surprised when people talk about how they didn't score as well as expected. If you average the scores you received on the 8 CATs you did, I bet your official score comes right in around that range. Nerves on the actual test day may throw your score off somewhat, but I was just as nervous on the actual day as I was at home when I did a CAT.
Also, when you're at the test centre and you have those initial instructions that are timed, use all the time and just slowly read or just sit there. Take deep breaths and relax during the time before you get the first question. If you have been through all the official guides and prep books, focus on doing practice exams (timed ofcourse). CAT CAT CAT CAT CAT! I cannot stress this enough. Don't even register for your next test until you are EXCEEDING your desired score on practice tests. This way, if nerves kick in on the real day, your score can drop but still be right where you need it to be. I'd say once you are consistently getting 610-630 on practice tests, then you should be able to reach your goal of 600 on test day. At that point, go ahead and slam down another $250. |

I only took 1 gmatprep test. And I got 360 in it. In real test I got 460. Reason I took it only once because I thought if I keep taking it and get less score my confidence will get low.
Has any used EZ GMAT prep books. They have 9 sets of only Quantative books. Please let me know |

Dude you need to take atleast 4 to 5 GmatPrep tests. If you got a 360 inGmatPrep then you actually did better in the real test
. I am not being sarcastic here. If you have a score in mind then make sure you can score the same in GmatPrep. The only advice I can give you is know your basics. Go back to your school maths and eat up all the grammer books. To get a 600+ score, just finishing the OG is good enough. Do it atleast twice. 700+ is a different ball game.

hey,
I see that you have taken a lot of material to study, quality study is required and not quantity only. don't give it in a hurry, give it when you feel confidence in your preperation and when you are at the peak of preperation, do not delay. give your self time to prepare. since you want to score good in maths, just practice it a lot, with timemanagement in mind, but do keep up with verbal also as a low score might hamper your overall score. the material you are using is fine, just get hold of some simulated tests. Good Luck!! |

Hi Patel,
Give your self some time and then start afresh. Some of us require extra time to assimilate what the GMAT tests ( acquired over a period of time). 1-2 months of focusing on basics of quant and verbal might be required. At the end of this you should have all your flash cards and notes ready and start taking weekly prep tests. I'm sure you'll cross 600. Good luck. |
