770(q:50,v:44)
Hi Friends,
I just finished my GMAT today and got a score of 770..My break-up is as follows: Verbal: 44(97 percentile) Quant: 47(94 percentile) Overall: 770(99 pecentile) It gives me an immense sense of satisfaction after getting this score..and would like to thank the Test-Magic team and the people who actively participate in discusssions in the forums. The Test Magic forums have been a real help. I started my preparation 2 months back. All my planning went haywire just as i was about to start my preparation due to my sudden transfer to india from france. Then the 1st challenge was to decide upon the duration for which i need to prepare before giving the actual test. Intially i thought i will prepare casually for sometime and take a date later on the basis of my rpreparation. But then i realised that this strategy is not going to work and that i actually need to take a date for the test and then is when the serious preparation starts(Once u see 250$ flowing out of thy pocket ).I started my preparation by registering on mba.com and giving one of the 2 GMATPrep tests. I scored 570 and was totally disheartened. The test helped me to assess my situation. I started the actual prep with "Official Guide-10th edition". I planned to complete it within 20-28 days and actually completed it in the stipulated time. Within that time i was continously giving full-length pratice tests every weekend(including essays). though the essays does not add to thy score but definitely help u prepare to sit for complete 4 hours on the test day. From these prac tests, I realised that my stronger section was Quant (as i had previously prepared for CAT(Indian management-entrance exam)). In Verbal, Sentence correction was my weakest section. The explanations of the "Official Guide-10" sentence correction helped me to improve my accuracy on SC ques. That is when i realised that i had to revise the OG-10 SC ques once again before the test rather than solving infinte questions without any explanation(from various sources.) In the meantime i was also active on testmagic SC forum. Special thanks to Mitzi and EF who had given very clear and descriptive reasons for the questions on the forum. Hats-off to their enthu ..Realising my weak areas and working on them helped me to improve in those areas and gain in confidence. Though there were dark patches in which i felt that i am not able to perform in "my strong" areas but were able to overcome that feeling by practicing those areas as well. On the whole i gave around 11-12 full length tests and the range of score varied from 570 to 760.For last 20 days of the preparation, i gave sectional tests also(paper based). To sum up my prep for the GMAT: 1.) Thorough conceptual study OG-10th edition 2.) Computer based full-length prac tests 3.) Paper based sectional practice tests 4.) Regular study of testMagic forum's posts |
