GMAT 710 Q49 v38
Took my test today... I knew that I was doing fine on quantitative. But verbal was a different story... After first 10 question, which I am pretty sure I answered most of them correctly, I had to guess several until the end... I did blind guessing on about 7 reading comprehension question and three out of 4 RCs were 50+ lines long and very boring n terms of their topics... Even critical reasoning were long and I had to guess a couple of them...
Here were my practice scores and actual results: Manhattan GMAT Cat-1: 680 q48 v35 Manhattan GMAT CAT-2 :680 q47 v36 Manhattan GMAT CAT3: 680 q48 v35 Manhattan GMAT CAT-4: 700 q48 v38 Manhattan GMAT CAT-5: 720 q48 v40 Manhattan GMAT CAT-6: 700 q48 v37 So overall, scores is not very different than my practice tests. But question difficulty wise, real GMAT was easier on quantitative and very difficult on verbal. (After horrible performance on verbal, I was expecting a 650.) Anyways, mission is over and I am happy that I will not have to take it again. |

When you say real GMAT was easier on quantitative, What are comparing it with ?
I am sure Real GMAT's quantitative is tougher than questions in OG, Kaplan and for that matter any GMAT preparation book. |

Madhur,
I am comparing Gmat quantitative with Manhattan GMAT CATs... Problems on combinations and permutations were simple in real GMAT... And data sufficiency questions involving inequalities and absolute values both were almost non-existent. Gimmeenergy, I am applying for INSEAD... I have a PhD in Engineering from France and I have been working in North America for last three years... Currently, I am exploring possible career opportunities which will make sure that I do utilize my technical skills after my MBA... Any idea, if venture capital firms do need technically strong people ? (I actually don't like engineering management. Director and even VP of my company, which is a fortune 500 company, don't even earn more than someone in Private equity for 5 years.) Anyways, Hopefully, I will keep getting useful advice from people on the forum for rest of my application process. Pre-requisite is done. Next step is to strenghten the application with strong references and good essays. Regards, |
