Comments on my Gmat Study Plan?
Hi Guys,
I´m preparing to take the GMAT on the 9th of July. I´ve 20 days to study, I work full time so I´m able to use 3 hours on weekdays and 10 hours during weekends. I got my first GMAT score three weeks ago, got 490 (25 quant, 45 verbal). I ran out of time and I´ve major weaknesses in quant. I´m aiming to get into a Msc program and actually they have approved me with the condition that I can raise my score at least to 550. So I´d have to increase the score for 60 points. I´ve done five CAT practise tests of a local company scoring constantly between 300-400 (the tests seemed to be more difficult than the actual test). I´ve also done all OG 11th problems and re-read high school math. Now I´ve bought OG 12th and OG quant review. I´m planning to do all the problems and do five free online practise tests (Official Guide, Manhattan GMAT, 800score, Peterson). I´ve also been thinking of purchasing the GMAX Online Quant course (30 hours). Any comments or tips? Also any thoughts on how to keep the motivation level high and keep the concentration are welcome! Thanks! Pete |

Hey Pete,
First of all your verbal score was kick ***. So that is big plus for you with regards to keeping your nerve while taking the test. Regarding Quant, try the approach that first 10 questions are bound to be tough and try and get maximum correct out of them. You can have a rough time-division table such as 25 mins for first 10 problems, 20 for next 10, 15 for next 10 and 15 for last 7 problems. Try and stick to the time allocation so that you could pace yourself thru out the test and not rush up only at the end. Also, try setting up goals in smaller steps. Taking one thing at a time ... that may include improvisation in Data Sufficiency problems or % problems, or arithmatic problems. Either do a detailed analysis of the mistakes you make in Quant yourself or get someone to have a look at the mistakes you are making over n over again in your Quant, so as to identify areas which need a lot of work and which are fine. This would not only give you confidence but also provide you with some sort of direction as where to head with your preps. Good luck Pal. Hope it helps. N |

One important thing you need is GMATTestSet, some useful website is mba.com, gmatprep...you should practise to know the test structure before the test some days to be best prepare.
