My strategy was revolved around identifying my weak areas and time taking areas. I used to do that using my practice tests and see where I am going wrong. My verbal was weak and I focused on Manhattan GMAT SC and powerscore critical reasoning book to improve it. I also build notes from these books so that I can revise the main concepts in quick time. Time management is very important. Buy yourself a stop watch if you can or install a stop watch software on your laptop which you can use (this is the way I did it). Then time ALL your practice questions and the time spent to do a question. It should average about 2 min/question if not less than it. This gives you a very good idea of how much time you are spending on a question and it will help you avoid getting "stuck" on a question. mathgoodies was a good site that I used for prepping.

2 full months of prep is very much sufficient. Just make sure you have the right resources with you and start off. I think if you are able to give your GMAT by first week of september, you will be in good shape to apply for US B schools as the first round only starts on Oct 1. But set yourself a date now!
