670 (q 48 V 34)
Wrote my gmat on 26th. Not a good score to get into B schools that I am aspiring for . Few highlights:
1. Quant- tougher than prep. I have always scored 49-50 in all my tests. Questions were difficult, given the time constraint. Got 2-3 questions on prob. 2. Verbal- spoiler in my case. I know my SC went well, but reading comprehension ruined everything for me. Got 3 passages with 5 questions each. One of them on farming and the second on probability (Yes a passage on prob). I think I should have worked hard on my reading comprehension like I did for SC. Guys dun take reading comprehension lightly. critical reasoning was also tough. One question was repeated from OG 12. Got one boldface. Make sure that your name on passport matches with the name in admission ticket. One guy at the center had this prob. He mentioned only his initials on gmat ticket. But in passport he had complete name. He was not allowed to write the exam. I wish you all good luck. I am yet to decide my future course, mayb retake. Not maybe, but sure. You will get higher if you try harder. If you think you can, you CAN

Hey Cloud9,
I took my GMAT on June 10th and got a dismal 690 (49, 34). My strategy for verbal was .... ****************************** First 25 Questions in First 50 Mins ... Guessing next 5 questions .... in 1 min Then last 11 questions in 24 mins. ***************************** I adopted this strategy bcoz in practise exams my accuracy of hitting the right answer was good but at the cost of speed. So I assumed that even if I get 5 wrong in the middle then I can end up having a good score in verbal. But it looks like I made some incorrect choices in first 25 and last 11 questions too. So I have to work really hard to increase my speed along with understanding. Now my strategy would be to answer a question within in 1.5 mins (90 secs) and hence attempt all the 41 questions with no guesses. So cloud9 what will be your strategy? - |

Tats a good strategy..mine was ..
75-60 min - questions 1 to 8 60-45 min - questions 9 to 17 45-30 min - questions 18 to 26 30-15 min -questions 27 to 34 15-0 min - questions 34 to 41 34 in verbal tells that I made 15-17 mistakes..Tats a lot of mistakes..Am realising thet there is no way but to increase both speed and accuracy.. But my worry is practise material..i have almost exhausted everything..Official Guide 10 and 11..do u know of any other authentic material..we both agree that reading comprehension and Quant in real gmat is different from what we see in kaplan and other materials... Any suggestions? |

Cloud9, That was a good strategy .... I think if our fundamentals (accuracy + speed) are in place then that strategy can do wonders (40+ scores).
I am facing the same material-exhaustion problem. However, I didn't do few SETS, so I will finish those up first. Also I am going to buy Manhattan GMAT series. It has got 6 exams. I have heard from a lot of 700+ scorers that it is a good buy. BTW my new test date is Sept 2nd. How about you ... have you planned your re date. |

![]() I have couple of remaining sets..I am done with Manhattan GMAT and always scored more in Manhattan GMAT than I did in real GMAT Do you have any tips / links/material for reading comprehension and critical reasoning? I am relatively better in SC now.Do u intend to appply to schools this year? I would take gmat in mid August. |
