610 Q 45 V 28 - Shud I face the ordeal again?
Hi All,
I am a silent spectator of this forum and have learnt lots of tips from u all. I have always wanted to write a debrief to contribute my part but now I feel Iam not fit for tht. I completed my GMAT on July 9th and scored 610 (Q 45 V 28). My target score was 650+ (not 700) to get into my dream school. But my verbal score pulled my overall. During my prep I usually scored an avg of 670 and a minimum of 33 in verbal. GMAT PREP 1 670 GMAT PREP 2 690 Manhattan GMAT 680 My problem has always been facing the Gday. I become so nervous and stressed that I cannot give my fullest in the exam. I am a full time mom of a 2yr old and have family commitments. So cant imagine starting my prep again So totally confused, donno what to do. Can anyone suggest me how to overcome this examphobia if at all i need to retake. My profile ---------- Bachelors in Electrical & Electronics engineering GPA 3.3 Exp 2 GMAT 610 A few social and voluntary contributions. Is this sufficient to get into University of Texas, Austin. Honestly I don want to retake the GMAT. |

hi Gmatchaser,
Whether to take the test or not depends on the b-schools u plan to apply. Check the range of the scores they accept. It is going to be tough. But if you dont want to take the exam again then u need to check these things before taking a call. If you dont think u have a chance then you might have to prepare again. Most Earthlings do better the second time around. And if you give urself sufficient time for prep u will definitely do better as you would have had the practise. U have mentioned only 3 tests. Did u take more? cos u need stamina to continue to concentrate during the end of the exam, esp when u are answering verbal. I am taking it for the 2nd time in AUG. i feel so much better this time around. tc |

gmatchaser, your score does not fall withing the 80% range of gmat score. It is 620-730 for Austin. Also, the middle 80% range of work ex is 35-101 months. Your work ex is less than that.
If you apply now you really would need to impress the adcom with what you have done with your life to get an admit. Else, and what I would suggest is wait one or two years, give your gmat again and try for a better probability to get an admit.

Hi,
Thanks for thy response. @ raven678 Thanks for thy advice. I took almost 6-8 tests. all fall in the same range. Si dint want to make a big list. Moreover Iam able to finish the test well within the time frame. So I think I am ok with that. @adabass I agree with u. But situation demands a high investment of time. So I am totally lost. gotto think a lot ![]() |

If time is an issue then sit for a gmat again and try to see if you can score 650-700. Its difficult to go all over the app process and then hear the ding...
