Scored 710 ( 2nd attempt, 690 in the first ) Should I give GMAT again?
Hi all,
I've given my GMAT for the second time and scored 710. The first time, I've scored 690. I'm really not satisfied with my score and I'm confident that I can score better than that. But, giving GMAT the third time is something which is dragging me behind. Will the number of attempts act against me when it comes to applying to good schools? |

Well, my first priority is ISB...I've attended their info session recently and from what I've gathered, they expect a higher score if the applicant is from an IT background. Atleast, that's what the usual case is. There are other b-schools as well like Tepper, Tuck and my dream would be Harvard. However, my basic concern is whether it's advisable to give GMAT the third time. I mean, will it play against me if I give it three times? Or is it worth giving a shot if I expect to improve on my score?

I think ISB take highest of all your attempts in last 5 years so you can have another shot if you really think you can improve significantly..
If it is just 10-20 points, I think you don't need to do it again. |

So a good application should suffice. On the other hand, the case with ISB is that they are very much hung up on scores.. which is something I am unable to figure out. No offences meant but when they reject an ex Indian Air Force fighter pilot cadet saying that nothing unique is there in your aplpication, it really puts the entire admission scenario in grey area. I have heard that scoring a 730-740 is good for that institute, but then again, a 710-740-740 is not much of a gain. So the question you need to ask yourself is: Whether ISB is the ony school you are targetting? If yes, then a GMAt again makes sense. But if not, then your score is sufficinetly competitive for other b-schools. Regards, Anubhav |

710 is a great score. but if you want to be sure it's enough for the uni you're interested in, check out the average GMAT grades for the degree/university you're interested in. that's your main indicator of whether you should resit the exam or not
