530(Q44,V23) to 700(Q49,V36)! My take

530 to 700 is a very good improvement...
so a score of 4 will be concealed...
but a score of 4 means u will have to write essays that will not very fundu essays... u will have to write simple essays n if u rite very smooth polished essays den adcom wil come to know that its nt u but some one else has written d essays...

One of my friend told me the other way - "write a killer essay to offset this AWA score"

Firstly, heartiest congrats on your score. Its truly inspirational. My last outing was a 650 (Q45 V34) (taken a couple of weeks ago). I'm a little burnt out but i feel that if i can bump up my verbal i'll be able to crack the 700; hence I plan on taking it again sometime in the next few months.

As for AWA: personally, I think 4 and above is fine. Don't fret over it. You'll have your essays to show off your writing skills with.

After some research, I feel , I have following options to offset AWA score..

1) Good score in TOEFL
2) Nicely written ESSAYS

Hi R1P,

Congrats for your great achievment and the score. Your's is an inspiration to me. I too got 540 in August and couldn't do much for a month after that, so studying now. Giving the test in another 3 week's time. Might need some more tips from you.
