Hi all,
The discussion has been directed elsewhere. To put it back on track : I started preparing for GMAT from mid june. My preparation was going at a snail's pace initially. My advice for every1 is take your gmat exam date well in advance.Say 2- 2.5 mnths in advance. This gives you a motivation to plan and execute properly.. Taking a date 4 months in advance proves futile since you start to belive that the Gmat day is too far.. So plannin your date is also part of a statergy for top score. Get your prep material ready (there are lots of it available) in the initial stages of the prep itself.DONT keep searching for new material till the end. Dont worry about the High and lows of the your mock gmat scores.I personally beleive put thy best efforts and keep estimating and evaluating yourself time and again.Thats the job of GMAC. Infact all thru my prep i never hit 700,so the only time i crossed it was on D-day. I will not formulate some study plan since i beleive that each one should make his own plan.Thats a sign of a great Manager !!! ![]() Ask me any questions you have regarding GMAT . Il me fera plaisir de vous répondre! Regards, Pappi |

Hi Pappi,
Thanks for sharing valuable information. I would like to ask you a question. Does it really matter that first 10 -15- or 20 questions should be correct, in both sections, to achieve high score ? Do the last few questions are really tough? how to manage timing with questions ? like first few around 3 minutes each, then hurry up in middle, and then concentrate more on last 10 or few questions ? |

Hi,
I am an Indian and have never heard of getting papers. Logically thinking it is not possible. GMAC has a huge database with 1000s of questions in it. Even if you get the paper, there are rare chances that the questions will come from the paper due to huge database GMAC has. This thread has been discussed lot many times on many forums. I am not sure about Chinese but the reason for Indians getting high score is that they study all their subjects in English at least in college and most of the public in India is crazy for engineering that's why their maths part is strong. This also makes their critical reasoning strong somehow. So I think that is the reason why Indians are scoring high. Now Indians are coming more into picture of GMAT is because their is a college ISB, which started around 5 - 6 years back and that demands GMAT score. That is why many Indians are taking GMAT and thats why more number of Indians are getting good score :-) |

Yes the first 15 questions do matter more than the last 10.Having said that ,it doesnt mean that the last 10 questions are of no relevance .While timing a test one should allocate more time to initial questions and relatively lesser time to the final few ,but make sure that one is left with atleast 5 -7 minutes for the last 5 questions. Personally I used to allocate equal time for all questions, since invariably I used to exceed the time per question ![]() |

great score pappi and i wish you the best of luck in your applications. i do have one question for you if you would be so kind to answer.
were you surprised by the proportion of DS questions compared to PS in the quant section? if so, did it increase the amount of time it took you to complete the section? |

This is my first post on this forum. I've taken the GMATs a few times and always got in the 640-650 range. I plan on taking it on last time, and I hope to crack the 700. Admittedly, its a mental strain on me but I feel that I have it in me for a last shot at it. Nonetheless, as a Bangladeshi, I certainly haven't heard of anyone selling any question papers- I assume this is because of the online-nature of the test. |

Many non native English people do study English since they are 3 years old. I think after studying all your subjects in English for 20 - 25 years, anyone can be good in Reading Comprehension.
I am not sure about China because in China, I think English is recently introduced for primary education. But for India, I know very well that many primary schools have all the subjects in english. Also it is a fact that due to competition faced by people in India/China/Bangladesh etc, people do put a lot of hard work in their studies and score pretty well. Actually this argument is never lasting because it is tough to digest that a non native English can be good in English. Even if I would be at your place, I would have thought the same as how can a non native Hindi (Indian language) score good in Hindi subject :-) So gist of all is that let us all try to kill gmat by scoring the best we can and help the community people in raising their scores in GMAT.All the best!!! |
