I had taken the GMAT today and got 710.

Q:49


Needless to say I am elated.
I have been a passive member of this forum.
I will post my prep plan and the tricks I used to win the war against GMAC soon..

Hi dhruv,
The gmat prep is an honest indicator of thy performance levels..
The level of questions mostly of the same level or slightly on the tougher side..atleast on the verbal front..

In both my GmAT preps I got 690 .
Infact all thru my preperation not even once did i touch the 700 mark..
In my prep tests i was around 640 to 690 range..but consistent..

GMAT is getting tougher.. thats because of heavy artillery fire from india and china at the gmat border..I mean bcoz of the excellent scores of the students from these countries the bar has been raised..I am presently stayin in france and Earthlings here would party all nite if they went past 600..
But having said that in terms of quality of the paper i found it similar to the GMAT prep papers..in fact in some of the verbal questions I had afeeling of deja vu..

(infact now i have started to beleive that it is better to answer queries rather than post 1 big brag story about how i prepared..which in any case is a traditional method ,which i have read from other posts)...keep asking thy queries..n i will try my best to give a realistic and fresh perspective..

I would like to share a information with you all. I did masters in accoutancy from US and never had an incident where I can surely say that a chienese guy can speak enlglish properly...or even write it. But still these chienese get score within range of 700.

Well, I am not sure, but I heard that these people, even Indians, and bangladeshi's have GMAT paper of the month. Some candidates appear of the exam at start of the month and they prepare whole quesiton set.... then they sell these questions for whole month....

Well, I met a guy long time back who informed me the similar act. He told that he got a paper and that is the reason he could able to score 720.

How far he is right? I really don't know, but does any body overheard the similar thing?

AdsCPA, I dont think that the information you got is right...First thing, that the GMAT is an online test. Every time you take the test you will see new questions, which the test presents you from the database depending on your performance. Had this been not the case, then anybody who retakes the test should have crossed 700 easily as he would know the questions..So I dont think that even if you get paper, you will get the same questions what you see in the paper. ...
I am an Indian and I never came across any cases where I came across somebody selling question paper...regarding chinese performance in verbal, GMAT doesnt test you for spoken english. It tests your ability on critical reasoning,reading comprehension and SC which anybody can do well, if he/she practices well..

Thanks for your response. I know its a database but do you know as per rules a candidate can not reappear for exam in the same month........ Some people can not even write well.... further, reading comprehension needs a understanding, thinking.... like what Author inferred about ?....such questions can only be answered if one understand the flow of the passage....

Within one month a database has set of questions... If really dig the issue, I can confidently say that one can find some traces of such incidents.

Hope, there should not be any fire behind the smoke.........

Well I haven't heard of any such incidents in India....In China I really don't know.....but i still believe that if Chinese are getting around 700 , its by their hard work....well in India n China there so much of competition that u really have to work hard to prove yourself...n I think that is the only reason for their good scores...
