750 - Trying Very Hard to post
Reading Personal experiences are as important as preparing for the Exam.
Those of you who are already doing it..Great!!! keep doing it...Those who have come across this link by chance...Good Job !!! Lucky U !!! now go back and reread the first line. Most of the posts that i have seen talk about all the study material that they follow or the schedules or other things on the similar lines. So lets be a little different this time round.. Getting personal -- I generally follow the extreme paths of confidence: I would be so happy to break the roof or would feel so low that be dragged onto my knees. The reason why i mentioned this is --- that for people who are like me..its cool to be like this..and not to think of as being abnormal....No Problemo Buddy !!!! Ofcourse what is important is to use this 'Q'uality to stay focussed and and to be honest with yourself. As for the study material - I followed mostly the same stuff that is written in every other posts. Nothing Special !!!! Seriously. However my emphasis was more on giving the real time tests-- as many of them as many times. Tests that i gave: a) Princeton review b) Powerprep c) GmatPrep d) kaplan - all 4 - give them twice over.. e) 800 Score - all 5 tests-- good. f) Manhattan GMAT - Of all the tests that i gave including the GMATPREP, i really think that Manhattan GMAT tests is the only tests that resembles most closely with the actual GMAT. Maths is tough and English is kind of Okey. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED..do give the free tests and you will know what i mean !!!! g) Tests - 21 to 30 are good. 1) Maths: PS and DS -- try solving as difficult questions as possible from whatever place that you can lay your hands on..my best bet would be to visit the forums. they are a great source of new and tough questions. Even if one is not able to solve the question on his own..look for the answers present and see what was it that you lacked. Also, it might sound stupid- but do prepare notes for your maths tests..formulas, concepts...anything that you find important and believe one is required to know before giving the tests..do collate them at 1 place... 2) English: a) Sc- Start collating points at 1 place- be it idioms, rules that you need to follow, or the approach that one needs to take for a particular question type or again..basically anything that you find reasonably useful. There is so much more to write and talk about...I 'Should be' here whenever you need me.... Some Important points: 1) Give as many Tests as possible the more you give the better for you. (People planning to get a score of more than 700- you should at least be scoring in the range of 730-760 in the Prep exams. Now when i say scoring 760-- it does not necessarily mean that you have to become some wiz kid..the intent is to retake the exam as many times as possible. Also, remember that whenever a known question is seen, one should not simply mark the answer, but should attempt the question so as to revise the concept. 2) While practising try connecting with a question - how do you do that ?? Start talking to yourself..what specific concept\concepts question is trying to test? what is exactly asked for in a question? Also, always remember that there is one person\people who can solve every question. What is it that you do not know or you do not have to be in that group? And why is it that you lag behind ??? 3)No question is so much so tough to not to be included in the real GMAT: Whenever you come across a new type of question - remember it is beneficial to learn new things prior to exam compared to facing the music during the exam. 4) Do remeber- during the preparation you will come across the peaks as well as the Valleys. However the aim should be to reduce the length of Valleys as much as possible and to eliminate it completely before the exams..and therefore to keep mounting the Peaks. Remeber I am talking about Mounting the Higher peeks all the time and not moving on the Plateau...The best way to achieve this is by being optimistic and most importantly to stay focussed by being true to yourself. 5) Remember there can't be shortcuts to success. Think strongly and Work Harder !!!!! July'09 750 - Q50 V41. |
