Please suggest friends...
Hi Friends,
I am in a bit of dilemna today. I took GMAT prep and scored 570(Q42 and V something bad). When I reviewed the questions in quant ,there were a few silly mistakes. I didnt want to see the verbal questions and answers again. Now I am exxtremely scared,I dont know whether to go for the real GMAT. Heard from people that GMAT has become tougher. So I guess it will be more than the GMAT prep. I have a month to go. I have done the OG,Manhattan all 5 quant books. I dont know what else should I do now. |

Hi, yes GMAT has got tougher than if you gve it like 6 months back. They have removed 300 questions and added 300 new questions in the pool. Hence lately, you won;t see many 700+ folks on the forums as compared to earlier. BTW, before I give u advice, i would want to know what all "5 quant books" dod you study?? ![]() |

Hi,
Experience, I bought the The Manhattan FDP,Word Translation,Number Porperties,Geometry and Inequalities and function..I think they are very good books, concept wise I usually dont see a problem in Gprep questionts. Its more of the DS questions that's causing the problem. Verbal again I keep getting between 25 and 34. AdsCPA, I have Manhattan SC, I have been preparing for GMAT on and off so I know the materials but I dont have the Kaplan.I will try to get them. Guys, I have a pretty good profile. I have worked in 3 continents, including Africa and did very good work there and already have a masters from Australia.Still I fall in the Indian pool but according to consultants,if I get 700,I will make it to the top schools. By the way ,I took Gprep again today and scored 670(Q48 and V34),there were a few repeat questions though.I have a month to go ,so please guide me,guys..It will be highly appreciated. |

Hi Abhishek,
I would say alertness on the test is most important. In spite of having studied from over 5 books or so, if you are not alert on the day of your test, the knowledge wont help. So i would say, try giving your prep tests with as much sincerity cross checking most math questions. As for the verbal, i guess you have the best material already.. Manhattan SC is really good.. also you can go through the PowerPrep Critical Reasoning bible.. it gives you an idea on how to approach the critical reasoning problems. With your profile, a 680+ score should do you good.! Also, i would suggest, keep the powerprep test 2 sometime before your test day, so you get fresh questions and hence a better estimate. And its natural to get scared but you need to take the plunge someday..! |

Yes, powerpre is the older version of the GMATPrep test. It was named Powerpre when ETS used to administer the test. And now Pearson has named it GMATPrep. A word of caution though: Since Powerprep is the older version of the test, the question bank is pretty outdated (meaning, that the questions in powerpre will not match exactly in terms of difficulty Vs the actual GMAT). The score on powerprep will approximately amount to a 40-50 less on the actual GMAT (This is what I have gathered after having given the Gmatprep and Powerprep umpteen number of times Vs the actual GMAT) |
