690 (Q49 V34) - Oct 1
I took the exam yesterday (Oct 1) and scored 690. The difficulty of the exam was as expected, and very similar to OG 12 and GMATPrep. I think I could have done better if I wasn't so tense during the entire exam that I had to read each question at least twice to understand it. So your mental state is very important. I am planning to retake in a month.
My mock exam scores are: Date Exam Score 7/19/2009 GMATPrep 1 640 8/4/2009 Manhattan GMAT 1 590 8/8/2009 Manhattan GMAT 2 640 8/14/2009 PR 1 610 8/15/2009 Kaplan 3 700 8/20/2009 Kaplan 4 680 8/22/2009 GMATPrep 2 680 8/28/2009 Manhattan GMAT 3 690 9/4/2009 Manhattan GMAT 4 700 9/11/2009 Manhattan GMAT 5 720 9/16/2009 Manhattan GMAT 6 670 9/18/2009 GMATPrep 3 720 9/20/2009 Kaplan 5 700 9/22/2009 Kaplan 6 750 9/25/2009 GMATPrep 4 730 My preparation was about 4 months. The first month wasn't really productive. The second and third months were constant. Then I took about a month off from work before the exam hoping to study really hard, but that was probably a mistake. My mental state was at its peak a week after I started full-time study, but during the last 2 weeks before the exam, I just couldn't concentrate. So it's not true that the longer you prepare for the exam, the better you'll score. The study materials I used are what everybody else uses: (1) OG 12 - A MUST of course (2) OG Quantitative and Verbal - Very good (3) Manhattan GMAT series - Very good! The Quantitative questions in the mock exams are way more difficult than the real ones. It's good for practice but may screw up your time management. Verbal questions are similar. (4) Kaplan - I only did its mock exams. The Quantitative questions are simpler than the real exam questions. Verbal questions are more difficult. (5) PR - Quantitative questions are not good at all. Verbal is ok. I want to give my special thanks to Abhishek_Mumbai, who helped me so much with my essays, and Erin for such a great forum, as well as so many of you out there who have inspired me all this time. It's not over for me yet - the battle has just begun! |

"So it's not true that the longer you prepare for the exam, the better you'll score."
Completely agree! I have been studying for this exam for more than 7 months now.. I feel the motivation going down.. I was so much more excited when I started.. I am sure that essay would have been easy for you.. I will wait for your essay scores.. best of luck for your preps! 690 is good enough for many good colleges but if you aren't satisfied, then go for it.. You will do better next time. I started doing Kaplan LSAT sets today and really surprised to see their explanations esp. of RCs. They are so wonderful.. try them if you need to improve your reading comprehension. |
