GMAT: Getting tougher or not?
I'm scheduled to take GMAT next Tuesday and like to ask whether GMAT is getting harder.
![]() Many people, who got +700, indicated that the difficulty of actual GMAT is close to GMAT prep level. However, several people contributed the increased difficulty of GMAT to their low score, whcih was not even close to their normal practice score What do you think? Here is what I think. Pretend you never heard anyone say that. Go into your test with confidence. You are prepared and are going to conquer the test. Tell yourself that. Take a deep breath and relax.
Good luck. |

I think it all depends on how you are feeling on the exam. Relax and keep a positive attitude no matter what. If after you answer a question and an easier one pops up next, don't panic. You might be right and the test makers might slip that easier q just to throw you off. Be confident. Best of luck!

I felt like the actual GMAT quant was a bit tougher, but my score (the second time around) closely resembled what I had been getting on practice tests.
...it could just be due to the fact that the real test has a much larger database and if they put you on a certain level (say, 49), you're going to be getting a bunch more 49+ level questions on the exam. Good luck! |

![]() I just finished my first GMAT As you guessed from my face, I didn't do well The test center won't let me in without my permannent residence card, so I had to go back home in hurry.... When I got back, I was alredy tired Anyhow, AWA was easy, so I thought I was maintaining my calmness Quant: I don't know what happen, but when I finished it, I had extra 20min. ![]() Then it hit me that I might not ok and I was not calm Verbal: I just couldn't concentrate, but keep trying to pull together and kept going and final verdict came 650 (Q48, V32) For a while, I was just sitting there thinking about "what just happened?" I didn't have energy to write anything, but I feel I have to write about my experience for the sake of forum To answer the question I asked, I believe quant was almost simiar to OG, but verbal seemed trickier Since I'm planning EMBA, I don't think I need a really high score, but I'm determined to get 700+ at next exam (Nov 21st) I hope I can write a better outcome then Thanks........ |

Cheer up!
650 is not a bad score considering what happened to you, and Q48 is awesome considering that you finished the section 20 min earlier! Just imagine how much you can improve next time! I was very tense and couldn't focus either, just like you, but I think I will do better next time ![]() |

Thanks for your kind word / encouragement I have 4 weeks before the next test and my game plan is to focus on Verbal section, since I'm confident I will get better quant next time. I've used OG12 and Manhattan SC for this test and I bought Manhattan critical reasoning today My CAT scores in 6 Manhattan GMAT and GMAPrep were between 680~750, but throughout the test, I realized my verbal scores were fluctuating so much (32~42) among test I have 4 weeks before the next (my final) test and hope to stablize my verbal score soon Any comments will be appreciated to tackle on verbal part of GMAT Thanks... |

to be honest with you. Since the verbal part of the exam is at the end of the test 38 is great. I'm sure you'll do WAY better the next time around.Just so we know, what books are you studying (for the verbal i.e)? And what are your weak areas?
