First Attempt 650....Second Attempt 620... :(
Hi All,
I gave the GMAT about 2 months ago and got a 650 (Q 47 V 32) & I gave the GMAT again yesterday and got a very disappointing 620 (Q47 V27).... ![]() In my Gmatprep I always got between 690 - 720 (my scores did not increase in the Gmatprep after 2 months of study). So I know that even if I try again I would land up with something in the range of 680 - 710; that is if I get a little lucky because let's face it....luck is an important aspect of GMAT...or life for that matter. What do you guys think ?...should I give it one more try ? or should I just accept it, because from my point of view a score of around 680 would get me into a marginally better school. Of-course there is always the danger of me performing more poorly. Let me know, Thanks, svinay |

Hi SVinay,
3 is the number till which B-Schools don't frown upon your attempts. I can give you my 2 cents if it helps: 1. Learn your basic aptitude. You can not be good(or bad) in all the topics of GMAT. Take the evaluation that comes at the front of OG and analyze. 2. Be realistic. In today's scenario GMATprep is most of the times a little inflated. So to reach 700, you need to score 740-760 range in GMATprep. There is exception to this rule but, as they say, always prepare for the worst 3. Work thru testmagic. This is one wonderful forum. But use it as if u are solving real questions. For answering any post do not look at the answers/responses first and try to solve in two minutes. 4. Understand it is a lonely journey. A real tough one where keeping motivational level high and being persistent is the name of the game. Don't be like me :P who used to have a mad flow working 6 hours in the night for three days and then wasting for rest of the days. And finally, remember it is a real dumb test which has nothing to do thy MBA study or post MBA profession. You don't need to be next Sir Isaac Newton to ace it. Just live thru it. We all had to take this pain. All the best.

Yeah do it again! You didn't spend that much effort only to accept a 30 points decrease and a 27 in verbal. I have seen many people getting a lower score on the second attempt but have yet to see anyone getting even lower on the third attempt!
