Mariush,
I know I'm not Twinsplitter and I know that I have not achieved his score (yet), but I do believe that my new method to increase my reading comprehension skills is beneficial. This is actually taken from a post created by JamesBond007 in the post http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12306 (HOW to Improve your Reading Comprehension Skills). I suggest doing his last step where, every day, you choose two sites that have articles, such as www.scientificamerican.com or www.cnn.com (these sites are from his post). Read these articles as fast as you can and then minimize the article. Next, quickly change over to a word processing program and summarize the article you just read, as best as you can remember. Then refer back to the article and see if your summary came close to the article. If you are seeing that you forgot information from the beginning, you should try to work on that. (Although the first paragraph usually summates the author's article, so you should have no problem with that, because that is the scope of the article). For me, so far, this has been an excellent way keep myself focused while reading. It has also helped me to remember small details. Also, I recommend starting a 'blog' or diary. You can start a free blog at www.blogsome.com This will not only help you improve your writing skills for AWA, but it will improve your vocabulary if you 'borrow' more difficult words from other articles. Anyways, I have found both to be pretty useful, and I hope the same for you. |

yes, chado's advice seems solid. Unfortunately I didn't work much on my reading comprehension, so I can't give much advice on it, but I can say that you should try to get your timing on critical reasoning and SC down so that you have much more time left over for reading comprehension. Also, check out Ursula's debriefing, because I remember that somewhere in there she has great advice for reading comprehension. And if you want some really difficult reading comprehension's, check out the LSATs -- they'll force you to remember what you read (either that or they'll drive you crazy because some are so difficult!).
Good luck! |

Thanks Twinn for the advise. Just now I went through Urusula's tips too. Got what I need - more practice on unsual topics which I do not normally read.
From the begining of this thread you were stressing on LSAT. Which publication do you recommend ? I believe, I can grab some book on LSAT from the nearby public library if you can tell the publication thats better. Also, thanks for pointing me to Urusula's post. That's an awesome post I have ever seen in this forum. Its a must read for all. Last edited by Mt.Rainer : 2005 July 29th at 08:55 PM. |

But honestly, any one of the LSAT tests will do. Just make sure it's an official LSAT (no crappy Princeton Review or Kaplan LSAT questions), since all real LSAT tests are pretty well written. Also, if you check out the 4th page of this thread, I provide a link to a free LSAT prep test to get you started. And yes, Ursula's post is definitely a legendary one. Good luck! |

hi Twinn,
I have been following your strategy quite closely and must say that it has helped me improve my Quant score a lot..(I haven't got to Verbal as yet). In your debriefing (Pg 4) you mentioned that the Kaplan reference shows how to calculate questions. in statistics. Could you please let me know which Kaplan reference should I look at? |
