700 GMAT - Totally messed up ! (700:Quants-50, Verbal-33)

Firstly Thanks to Erin and Spidey ( for the wonderful SC notes ) !

Just finished the test and Oh what a royal mess up it was !

I felt that the verbal was quite difficult but anyways its always been the bad one for me. What is shocking is how I managed to get 50 in Quants. I revised again and again each question and still finished well before time.

Again failed to manage time in verbal.And maybe all the guesses made when I could localise the answer to one to two choices or so were wrong!

Btw, I have not explained my preperation as I hardly did any.

Anyway here it is :
Prepared for 2-3 weeks.The first week I tried out the crack-gmat test and got 670.
Then I tried out the powerprep1 and got a 730. Confidence went up. Second week, was inactive. Third week, I got 680 in Powerprep2 and thats when I realised that its not
gonna be smooth sailing.

So I went through Spidey's notes and the verbal ability sections of Official Guide.
Accuracy levels :
RC :95 % ( Did 20 % of Official Guide )
CR : 90 % ( Did 20% of Official Guide )
SC : 85-90 % ( Did whole of Official Guide )

Kaplan diag - 690.

Three tips :

1. Official Guide is "not" the same as the real one ! However, this might be just my perception. If I did not have good results in Official Guide, maybe I would have done better.

2. Overconfidence is a bad thing.

3. Keep your cool ! I did not, was agitated don't know why!

Anyway Its finally over, but will always haunt me as the cat I could not bell.

Frankly, calling a 700 messing up is an insult to those who are trying to break 600 and get into "a" school.

I know the score is not too bad but I have been thinking about 750+ all the while. Hence 700 is a big disappointment.

which schools are you targetting? if you feel that the score does not do justice, take the test again.

Cannot re-write the test. There was a time deadline in the college I wanted to apply to. The score might just be ok but my profile ( though with a work-ex of 5+ years ) is not good enough. Planning as of now to apply in some colleges in India.
