I tried my hardest to get the best score and I basically failed with a 370. I just do not do well with Standardnized Tests. I did the Kaplan thing, practiced with PowerPrep and I still did not do well. I seriously do not think I will do any better if I took the test again. I had a good GPA at 3.35. And I'm not trying to get into a top tier school. Have anyone heard of someone getting into a MBA program eventhough they had a weak GMAT score?

jeffersj, sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your score.
I can tell you from many years of experience that those of us in the test prep business are quite aware of the phenomenon of people who do well in class, but not so well on standardized tests. From my experience, I have seen that people who do well in class, but not on the actual test, can raise their scores if they focus on the right things. For example, "test anxiety" is a big issue in test prep, and could be causing you to get scores lower below your potential. But I'm thinking that something else is going on--with a relatively high 3.35 GPA, you would seem to be in good shape for your test. I'd recommend you talk to somebody about this. As I understand, Kaplan allows you to use their resources for some time after you finish their course, so perhaps you could go in to talk to one of their more experienced teachers? No matter what, good luck! And don't give up, okay?? |

Hi jeffersj, you are not alone. my first gmat score is 350 and my 2nd one is 370 and I will take the third one on june 31, which is this thursday. "I seriously do not think I will do any better if I took the test again" . I also feels the same, even if I study hard, i just feel this test is too hard for me, I took kaplan and I also studied the official guide, but I still feel that I couldn't survive. My hardest problem in gmat is critical reasoning and data sufficiency. What Erin said "I can tell you from many years of experience that those of us in the test prep business are quite aware of the phenomenon of people who do well in class, but not so well on standardized tests" is probably fitted to me. For example, I struggled a lot on my TOEFL 4 Years ago but once I am admitted at university, I feel the courses at university is much easier than standardized test. My GPA is 3.23 and i am a finance major.
Now my goal is of course study GMAT again cuz I have no choice ^_^ and taking the test every month hopefully it will work.By the way, I Love your website Erin. This is a top quality website, the design is good, the forum is cool, everybody here is nice whenever I visit this site, I always feel at home ^^ |
