Practice Tests vs. Real GMAT

Took my GMAT today: 620. Damn.

I took 4 practice tests:

GMATPrep: 560
Peterson's (3): 630, 670, 660
GMATPrep: 690

I thought I was ready when I hit 690 on the pretest provided by the GMAC. I am so frustrated, and I wanted to apply early - that is now shot. I am now aiming for the Dec/Jan deadlines. That means I have to take the GMAT again by Nov 10th or so.

Does anyone have any advice on tutoring and/or classes? Princeton Review says they can get me over 700 (80 pt increase) with private tutoring. I am seriously doubting this. Thoughts??

Any idea on the wild swings in scores? On the 730 score test, I even made a stupid mistake on a Q question, otherwise it might have been a 740!



I've also taken GMATPrep and ranged from 620-690. It seems that the PR GMAT Quant section focuses on probabilities and lacks questions on quadratics. Anyone else notice this?

I was just looking through most of the score comparisons here. It seems that GMATPrep is pretty indicative of your quant score. What else I have noticed, is that most people are beating the GMATPrep verbal score on the real GMAT. It actually seems like PR is a better marker of GMAT verbal performance. Anyone else have some comments to this?

Are the Kaplan CATs from the CD or through the course?

I have been taking a Kaplan course as well - and the corresponding CATs (online). I'd love to hear if anyone has experience taking the Kaplan CATs, as well as how it may correlate to a final GMAT score.
