    Hi All,

First of all I would like to thank ERIN for putting up such a excellent site. I could have never got such a score in Verbal, without this site's help. Erin your are 'THE BOSS' in sentence correction, and for me that was the area I needed help in so it really worked for me.

I started preparing about a month back. I chose only two books--Official Guide and Kaplan latest book with CD.

    What came:
Maths:Same as in OG but about 4-5 in Probability and Statistics.
    DS:Lot of inequalities.
RC:4 passages 40-60 lines, two on science and one on art and one on sociology.
    SC: same as in OG
CR:couple of questions with boldface, otherwise same as OG.

My conclusion is that nonthing is better than OG and Kaplan is a bit tougher. It sometimes does damage to your confidence.

I started with OG and took section tests from Kaplan on weekdays. Since I just had 4 weeks I had to put 4-5 hours per day. I took 4 tests from Kaplan on the weekends and the 2 Powerprep test on a weekend just before the test.
    My scores were:
    Kaplan:590,610,640,650
    Powerprep:700,700
    Final:710

    My suggestion:
Try to do all the questions from OG espcially in SC, CR and RC. Maths last 100 and DS last 50 are good ones. If you have a lot of time do all of them.

Now I seek you valuable suggestion in the next step of the admission process. I have 5.5 years of experience in Automotive manufacturing and Automotive design consulting. I am currently working as a consultant in Sweden. My undergrad GPA is 3.64(Mech. Engg) on a 4 point scale and I come from India.

Which schools should I be applying to. I am looking for top rung business school with modest budget. Any pointers in this direction will be very valuable to me.

Again Thanks a lot ERIN for putting up such a perfect forum and website.
Also ERIN if you could respond it would be better.

If you have any qusetions I would be glad to answer them.

    Congratulates!! Ran.
You did a great job with limited time of preparation. I noticed yr verbal is quite good. Can you share some advice with us? My problem is time management. I find it difficult to keep qlty and speed with RC. How do you allocated yr time with the verbal section. Did you tried all questions or do you have to guess some? For CR and SC, how much time each question is practical and wise?

    Many tks.

    Hi Happyking,

I think the key to verbal are two things.
    1) Because most of the questions follow a rule in SC, you can really work on your SC and save time. If you are good at sentence correction, you can save time there and invest it in RC or CR. This site will help you a lot and OG is a must read.

2)For RC, follow the Kaplan's method----like the getting the main idea, supporting ideas, and for details you can go back. CR you can master only by practice. So Practice, Practice and Practice.

    Wish you Good Luck
