660 - Is this enough?

Hi guys,

I managed to score 660 on my first attempt, though was aiming for 700.
On the plus side, I scored 6.0 on my AWA. Do you think this is enough to get me into INSEAD?

sunslinger.

sunslinger, it really depends on the rest of your profile...i would ask gmatbong as he is an expert on admissions.

can you please debrief on the test...?

can you compare the difficulty of the real gmat quant/verbal to the OG, Gmatprep and sets if you did them?

thanks

660 (q44, V35)

Hi ShakeVT,

Sorry about that. Here's a breakdown of my score:

Quantitative - 44/73%
Verbal - 35/76%
AWA - 6/95%

These are my official scores after preparing for the GMAT in relatively a month's time. I've always thought my quantitative would do better than verbal, so this really came a surprise for me.

650 - 670 is the deciding level to me as well.

One of my friend got 720 in the 2nd time from 590 in the 1st time. He claimed that he didn't "feel" that the know more in the 2nd time than in the 1st time.

I only had OG (all three) to practise. I found it to be pretty OK, in the sense that for every 40 questions, I normally score around 88-90+%. I'm weak in verbal and did pretty badly during practice. Nevertheless, during the actual GMAT, i felt that the quantitative was pretty all right for the first 10. After that, I got stuck more often and wasted some time tackling more questions. I think I even had to quick-guess one or two of them.

Other than that, I didn't have any other reference materials and I did it all in about a month's time. Pretty rushed, I'll admit, but thought that it was pretty all right, given that work is going to be hectic for the whole of this year and I took the GMAT during one of the less-demanding periods.

650 is definitely good enough to get into the top 10. I was accepted to NYU this year with that score. I'm going to retake the GMAT nonetheless. I'm shooting for 700 or better.

I received the same score breakdown as you but got a 650. How is that possible?
