India & Korea :Bad GMAT Experience of Aug'08

I have heard from a lot of my friends that the standard of Exams in I
India and Korea have been upgraded in India and Korea. The GMAC people are taking no chances and the following changes are reported by people

    1. RC passsages are of very much higher level.
    2. SC questions are not much different than tested previously in GMAT
    3. Maths questions require a lot of calculations and bit longer than the previous exams.

These observations are based on the general belief in people in India that the GMAT level has been upgraded from Aug,2008.

Some Facts : One of my friend got 660 on GMAT. His previous score 690
One other person got 690 . His previous score 680. None of people from Ahemdabad centre, as reported by one of my friend who is close, is able to appreciably improve his score.

I want to whether the same thing is happening to other people also.

Disclaimer :- I dont intend to raise any controversy regarding the bias of GMAT people against India and Korea, but I am really disturbed by the experience of the people who were repeating their GMAT after one year.

Don't let your focus shift because of such things.

Personally I don't believe this. IMO, GMAT is pretty much a centralized test. Not specific to any country. The observations you and your friends made might've been purely coincidental. So, chill!

Concentrate on your prep and do well in the test. Don't think anything beyond.

    Good Luck.

GMAC is not a non-profit organization nor does it care if you could go to a business school or not. it needs to make profit. We can support the conclusion that GMAC is making the tests harder geographically because

    A) gmac has found that Indian's are getting better in gmat and thus will not retake it , hence less profit for gmac
    B) US government does not want any Indian to come to US,get an MBA and steal jobs in this tough economic time, so they advised GMAC to make it tough for China or Indian
    C) As GMAT is CAT , it is becoming self-aware and learning to make tough questions for Indians and Chinease.

OR, we can weaken the conclusion by

    A) The more international students come, the more profit for Business school as they charge 2-3 times more than domestic students.
    B) US Government would like to smuggle more and more money from India and China by mean of ridiculous international tuition fee to put some sort of a burden on their economy.
