what on earth happened :kindly help
I had my gmat on 16 of august>
I got bombed and scored humiliating 650(Q48,v32) I had prepared for two months and put my heart in the preparation. I was scoring 680-720 in the practice tests ,including GMATPrep,Kaplan,Princeton,Crack-Gmat. Dont know exactly what went wrong and dont even know ..where to go from here . AWA was pretty easy, took a deep braedth and wrote good 4-5 paragraphs ..it did not cause any stress . Quant was really tough,I got a mixture problem as a first question.very tough questions in math, not what i had seen in the past .Questions were very time consuming and tricky..so i had a little time crunch but managed somehow..dint xpect to score 48 ..as i had consistently scored 49-50 in quants in all practice tests. In verbal i thought i was going pretty good ,was expecting atleast high thirties , got four RC but they pretty much manageable. To my horror, when i saw my score 650..i just could not believe it. PLease people help me ..don't know if i should write the xam again ..since there looks to be a lot of scope for improvemnt.. and also 650 is nt a good score.I am an IT profeesional with 1.5 years of experience . I was considering these universities for application . NAnyang busines school Carnegie mellon-Tepper Iowa Business school Purdue Michigan kindly suggest are there any chances to get thru with this profile and score and how is the course MFE and is it comparable to mba in any form ..am too confused kindly help .. Thanks in advance |

First, relax - you've just missed a bus. You can take the next bus or choose another means of transport. GMAT is not everything.
Many of us are in the same boat. Giving everything in the prep - and not seeing the expected result. Take some time off and then gather yourself. Then things would be more clear. I've very less idea of the schools you've mentioned - but I am sure you can get a lot of online help about the admission criteria to these schools. Are you considering any other schools at all? Reason being - 650 is accepted in many schools. Now about re-take ... it's a tough question. Based on what you have and what you expect out of an MBA - analyze the pros & cons of a retake. And you be judge for yourself. Personally, I am in the same situation - motivated for retake but finding it tough to concentrate again. Congrats on the score. Cheer yourself up - after all you've put in best efforts. Best Krovvidy |

Vaibhav - Trust me - All the schools but Iowa(as I am not aware about this one) is sort of out of reach for your score and profile. With just 1.5 years of experience and also being a member of the Indian IT male, you will have to score above 700 - I know this is a hard reality but this is plain truth..Go for a powerful second attempt and also develop your overall profile because even with a 750+ score, your admission depends lot more on how well-rounded an individual you are...

J2010 summarized it quite well. That's the hard reality.
For info on b-schools, I found this one useful: FIND MBA - MBA Programs Worldwide |

cheer up vaibhav.
the good part is that u expect ur skill and preparation to get u a much better score. See it this way. If this is what u deserved, u better don't spend any time and effort on the score and work more on the other stuff important for admission. But u urself say that there is a scope of improvement. so just go for the second attempt. take a date after one month and go for it. u are not going to lose much as u will always have ur 650 score with u. that's my personal suggestion. |

Yes it is bit hard to keep motivated for retake
