Hi all,

I gave my GRE for the first time on Aug 29th,2008. I scored :
V 460 and Q 700. I used to get a score of 1200 - 1300 during Gre Prep pratice tests.

I considered my GRE score to be very bad, and so , planned to give GRE again on Sept 22nd.
I practiced much better this time using a course from 800score.com and even gained better scores in GRE Prep (1340) , GREBible (1560) and 800Score ( 1340 - 1400). I was pretty confident and attempted GRE again,hoping to score much better, but was dejected when I found that my GRE score was lesser than before

I scored V 440 and Q 700 this time.

I found the practice tests to be much much simpler than the actual GRE, especially in the Verbal section. In the GRE , I found that the answer choices for questions were very complex compared to the GRE Prep Software.. This is very much misleading for me, since I relied higly on GRE Prep and 800Score.

Now I do not know what to do.
I fear that if I give GRE again, I might score lesser.
Please advise if I can apply with this score..I have a very good GPA in my undergraduate Enginnering ( B.E) and I have studied from a very reputed college in India. Plus I have a experience of 2.8 years in Software division.

I am planning to do my MS in computer science.
Also, please suggest if I can still apply for Fall 2009. The deadlines for most universities are by Dec 15th, and today is September 22nd. I have to give my TOEFL yet, and prepare SOP too.. Would 2 months be sufficient for this application process?
Please advise..

Everything goes alright in your way except gre score

.Don't worry if you apply universities realistically we must get admission.

I gave my GRE too. I got 1170

, inspite of scoring well on the practise tests.I used to get 1270-1300 in the practise tests.I got 1270 in Powerprep.

I too want to apply for CS.I am still confused as to give GRE again or apply to the universties with this score(which I think is not a good idea considering the fact that I want to apply fro CS).Pretty mcuh the same situation yet to give TOEFL and prepare SOP's.

I will be grateful if anybody can provide us some advice!

Prad and Gogre If your quant score is above 700 u can still get into MS.
prad what was your quant score ?

hey my quant score is 650

. Verbal score is 520! I think I should retake it.Will it be too late if I give my exam again in Nov?

Prad, It depends on universities u r applying to. Some universities have deadline in December so u might b a little late .Some universities have deadline in January. so u will have plenty of time for them. If u do take it in november take it in first or second week. What u can do is apply in all of them in october and tell them u r taking GRE in november.
