Hey all,
I'm pretty new to this site and have posted only one thread before..but I found this to be pretty useful. Especially in the days when I was pretty depressed and lack lustered.. So lemme begin my experience.. Got to the place around 1 hr before.. got all the necessary sign up and doc checks.. They gave me a locker number and i put everything in that..this means everything..they even took a 5-star which i had .. Then at 1 pm they called me in and guided me to my PC...It was a big 17' CRT with fonts big enough to be viewed by a man sitting 10 feet apart Then came the usual 30 min session of tutorial... I used 20-25 minutes of that to get use to the place and get a hands on to the excellent ear plugs that they provide.. As always in happens in the beginning, I was greeted by an issue..I didn't had enough time for writing and was not able to practice it for once, had only studied a few issues from NOVA.. to my luck , one of the two issues was the one which i had read..So i was able to handle the issue with much ease..It was followed by a argument which was comparatively easier than the only one I had done as a practice.. Then came the 10 min break..I got for sip..they made me sign on a sheet wen i left and again wen i entered.. To my surprise i was then given a Quant section.. ![]() I never did a test in which quant comes first..It was kinda setback coz the verbal section sort of prepared me for quant..I managed all the questions with ease..I had already seen 10-12 of them earlier in forums of daily GRE. .. and this gave me enough time to handle DI (which was very easy)Then came the verbal section. In the practice tests, I always had all my sentence completion correct, and verbal section started with a sc...I easily did it but to my sorrow the second question was a word which i had never heard.. suddenly(this is what is called luck), a feeling came that this is the meaning of the word(I had not even looked at the answer choices by then),, when i half-consciously looked at the choices, the antonym was there.. .....After that mostly of the words came from barrons, in fact all of them were from barrons.. I finished my test with less than 1 min to spare but it was quite easy to do..I clicked with trembling hands on the show score button..it showed me 710 V and 800Q... now a word of advice to all the future aspirants..: 1. Do barrons thoroughly..do it before doing anything else.. 2. After u finish up with barrons( I prefer u should have 20 dayz to GRE wen u finish it), start taking up tests..along with do all the antonyms and analogy of BIG book..its a must... 3. Do take up Quant section seriously.. its a think most students overlook..Do all the quant sections of practice tests along with the verbal to get a feel of the tests.. 4. I took these tests: 800 score kaplan(excellent) princeton(excellent) gre bible(do it in the starting,) cambridge review(excellent) ... now the most surprising part is that i scored 720 in only one princeton test in verbal and once in cambridge..apart from that..wen i gave PP, i got a score of 420V and 780Q - and that was just 2 dayz before the exam..I though that maybe there was some bad luck involved.. I gave a princeton test just after and got 450V and 800Q...Still i managed to get 1510 in teh real test.. I suggest that one should ever loose hope...No matter what happens... try to give as many tests as possible..and do barrons and big books sincerely as u can.. PS: if u want any of my material ...drop me a mail at gonewiththeway@gmail.com |

I learned barron's to the core. All the words only 40-0 of them were real hard to remember.
Then i hogged on to all the tests i can get. also websites like number2.com , greguide.com etc. I recommend that everyone should do barrons first then other things.. |
