Hi All,
I've been reading posts on this site for a while, and have now decided to share my experience. I'm a science student who plans on applying to an engineering grad school - which I obviously need a high Q score for. During my practice tests I've gotten Q in the range of 750 - 800 consistently, and I know all the math, only making silly mistakes once in a while.
During the test, I had two Q sections, with V in between. Obviously only one was the real one. For some reason I just blanked out, took too long, and did too much unnecessary math. I had way too many questions left in the end. I should have not checked my scores, but I mistakenly did. Well - lesson learned... I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem of that happening during the test and scoring much lower than expected? If yes, then what did you do? I'm retaking the test in a couple of weeks.

hi tAtibAbi!

although i think it is very good score i have no idea if the quant score is suitable for engineering grad school.

anyway, i was one of those who scored higher results during my practice than that of my actual test.

my advice would be to pay much attention to the first 5-7 questions in the exam as they have the higher marks compared to the next questions.

my second advice would be not to cancel the scores under any circumstances as a miracle could happen or you may misjudge your performance. and as i said miracles do happen.

Hi tAtibAbi..!

Let me tell u that you are not the only one to have faced such a situation. I can totally relate to your problem, coz I am one among those who has scored less in the actual test when compared to a gud score in Practice tests!.. I am attempting the test again, (For the 3rd time ..

) I faced the same problem as you.. TWICE !! But this is not to discourage you in the second test...I am sure You can work hard and wash ur hands off GRE with great score this time!
Just so, if it helps motivate you..I am planning on giving GRE again in a week!.. So, keep practicing..Am sure you will do gud!!
