1310..The journey through 1160 !!!

Hi all,

I gave my GRE today. Got 1310.
V - 520
Q - 790
I am content with the score, because I am aiming for CS, and I have a good score in Quants!

But surely, GRE was not a piece of cake for me :-). This was my third attempt!! My previous posts at : http://www.urch.com/forums/just-fini...ity-level.html (GRE Score 1160 :-( GRE has Increased its complexity level ?)

In my first 2 attempts I scored 1160 -1140. I was totally dejected and was on the verges of giving up !! But thanks to my friends, and well wishers, who constantly kept faith in me and encouraged me to attempt one LAST TIME!!! I kinda wanted to give it a try too, because I used to get decent scores in my Practice tests, and somewhere in my mind had a hope to do well. I guess my hard work paid off this time!!

I joined this forum after my 2nd attempt, and it sure has been of great help.Thanks all you guys, for your constant updates!

Now, A little something about my test. The procedure was the same, they assigned me a locker, asked me to dump all my stuff, including my WATCH into the locker. Once I was through with all the formalities, I was led to a cubicle, and given a option to use headphones. I did, and started off with my test. Essays went OK. "Should effective leaders follow ethics and moral standards " . Argument was fine too. Then came the first Quant! It was just OK. Not to my satisfaction. I was scared I would score surprisingly low. I just went on answering, with someone in my head screaming," This is a WRONG answer..This is wrong"... After those dreadful 45 mins, I got the Verbal section. First question was a Antonym! It all went well until the last 5 minutes,when I still had 10 more questions to finish..I got a third quant, which I assume was the practice test, because it was very easy.


Finally, the scores were up and I gave a sigh of relief. I am happy, now I will not be trailed by those word lists in my dreams
I still have a long way to go, TOEFL, SOP etc etc..This was a major hurdle, and I am glad, I can wash my hands off GRE now!!

hi first of all congrats for the great score.
can u plz tell me the approx. length of the RC's you got.most probably there will be 2 RC's of 2 questions each and another RC with 4 questions.how many RC's did u get.tell me the approx. length of each of the RC.

I got 3 RC's. 2 of them were lengthy, about 60 -85 lines, with 4-5 questions each. The other RC was a short one, with about 40 lines. This one had 2 questions. Hope this clarifies ur doubts. Pls let me know.. All the best

Thanks! Ur quants score is gud, but as u wud know, verb is a lil low.. But depends on if you want to go for Engineering or otherwise.
Why dont you check directly with the University itself. They will very clearly tell you if you can go ahead and apply.

I am going to take GRE very soon. I am confused about my performance and preparation. You guys have made very good score in GRE.
