Juts gave Revised GRE today and got Q:160 V:158

Sorry in advance if I sound really desperate but I could really use some help in interpreting my score. I just gave the revised GRE today and got Q:160, V:158. I was a bit surprised on the Quantitative score since I'd been doing well on the practice tests on those sections (I wasn't also aware that you could give the test without getting the experimental or research section in the revised GRE- found that on the test). How good of a score is it really?

I did my BSc(Hons) in Economics and Political Science and am interested in pursuing something towards the Econ and Finance side. I know the quantitative score is important but with the revised GRE I'm not really sure how good or bad that is. Also how would you consider the verbal score? Any help on this will be gladly appreciated since I'm considering whether or not I should give the test again. Thanks in advance

hey I too gave my GRE yesterday and got 320 (Q-162,V-158) and I am also planning to study MS in finance
Regarding Scores its is a good score unless you're aiming for top 5 or 6 programs In any case GRE scores are just a part of evaluation as they will look into other factors like work exp etc (which is my concern as im a Fresher so i think it would be better to proceed if overall profile is good
    BEST OF LUCK !!!

solve as many mock tests u can get for ex jumbotests.com etc and note the words that come in the verbal sections , give special attention to words that come in official ets mock test i.e in powerprep software , I didnt plan anything for reading section as I was preparing for CAT xam so had practice of solving passages

i used the barron's 800 words list, comes in a small book and has example sentences and review exercises after each group of words. i personally thought it was very useful and representative of the sort of words that appeared on the actual GRE.

First two posters: many master's in finance programs only accept the GMAT. If that's your goal, you need to take the GMAT.

OP specifically: 160 in Quant (84th percentile) is sufficient for PhD economics programs outside of the top 50. It will be good enough for political science PhDs except for a few quantitative oriented programs.

    Worried

Hi!! my exam is scheduled on 14th of this motnth. And, I want to score at least 300 ... I've been doing well in all the practice tests so far... Yesterday, I took Powerprep test and got 308. 164 in Q and 144. Does this indicate, I'll score in the same range in the actual GRE? With 1 day left, I'm unable to figure out, what I should study now. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
