Post zapped!!!

Hi
am an architecture student and gave my GRE a couple of days back. well, the scores were awful, i guess...V500 and Q670...haven't yet received my AW score. had expected a lot better score in verbals. i know i am good at it and could have really aced them. was confident et al...but man, the scores jus stunned me.i am really confused of my chances on getting into a good university. Haven't had a chance to interact with students of my field aspiring for the same and am not sure of my chances. My acads also don't make a strong statement about myself. I am not sure if i should consider retakin the test or jus start with the application process...to retake the test, i'd have to attribute more time to the whole studyin process which would be at the sacrifice of my job. i really can't scrape a lot of time from my work. Confused and need some lift on my spirits. if retakin is the option, i'd gladly take it but i'd like to know my chances otherwise. i am sure i can work up some good recomendations and put in an extra effort on my SOP. but i really need to kno wat my options are and how do they weigh against the other...
any suggestion will be gladly appreciated. thanks.

Re: zapped!!!

GRE score isnt bad but maybe retaking it is useful if you have sufficient time. Verbal is tricky however self-belief is the key.Once you have that, all you need to do is learn the word lists(all of them) and keep doing practise questions.

Key thing is I know v little about where you are applying to.Find out what GRE score is required then work to it.Some departments place more emphasis on the quant part hence you may not need a great Verbal especially if you are a foreign student.

Pm me if u need further help. Good luck

Re: zapped!!!

hi,
it would be better if u go to the univ sites and check the reqd score.
if possible then retake the gre. otherwise work on the recos, sop, projects.

Post Re: zapped!!!

Thanks BigDog, for the word of advice. Gagan too.
i sure am gettin in touch with the universities to find out for the cut-off. It sure looks like, as of now, that retaking GRE is ominous option. Well, besides worryin over the earlier failure; i'd still be concerned about the time i'd be able to put into the preparation unless i take up some kinda coachin wherein they lock me up in a room and don't let me out for another two hours or something. am sure i won't be able to take the time out otherwise...def not with work and stuff.
