Hi,

I took GRE Test last December and got test score on AWA today.

I got 660/verbal, 770/math and 4.0/AWA. Do you guys think my AWA score is too low to get admitted to MS in Computer Science at well known universities?

In fact, I was shocked that the percentile of my AWA is only 27% when I found information to Interpreting Scores on the GRE Analytical
Writing Measure on gre.org (http://www.gre.org/interpret.html)

I know that most computer science department used to require more math and analytical score than verbal. I'm not sure how my low AWA score will affect the chance of getting into school.

Thanks,

Dale

This really has become a serious concern among the experients of the newer version of the GRE. The percentile numbers are turning out to be scary, compared to the Analytical scores of the earlier pattern. Consequently, wouldnt we newer GRE examinees be at a loss during the admission procedures?

Sri is on the way!
Depts would have surely changed their criteria now with all the changes in the GRE....Yah, percentiles are definetely scary, but, remember that they r only derived from a very small (~94000) pool of examinees, so as more and more people keep taking the test, it will definetely change. I personally feel that these percentiles are skewed by atleast a 20-30 percentile points, bcoz, according to gre.org, the number of native English speakers who take the test was nearly 72% and only the rest were non-native speakers. So I guess all such factors contirbuted to the biased percentiles.....So stay cool and apply as if it means nothing and I am sure adcomms will take other things to measure ur analytical ability into consideration as well .
