Just got my results - took test on Dec 19. Only found out about your site after I took the test! Not sure I can advise that much. I studied fairly hard for about 3 weeks or so - i.e. my study was compressed. I would definitely recommend Peterson's Writing Skills for the GRE/GMAT - probably would not have scored so well on the essay without it. Also used Baron's vocab list and math review. Also got REA's review book, but found it very disappointing.

Hi,

That's a good score and congratulations. I need your advice truebrit about the GRE. I am planning to take the exam around feb. 15, 2003 and I just started a week ago. my big problem is the verbal. I am using Baron book for the qua. (math review) and I think I am doing ok on that. I downloaded the GRE vocab. word list from the internet and I am trying to memorize. the admission is required 1200 for (qua.+verbal). so tell me exactly how did you prepared yourself and which part you studied first...etc.

Thanks

On the verbal, I think it is really important to pace yourself properly - particularly when it comes to the reading comprehension. I would advise planning how long you think you should spend on each type of question and be completely familiar with the format. That way, you will avoid panicking.

I also found it useful to make my own lists of synonyms - for some words I ended up with 6 or 7 synonyms. Something about doing that made it easier to remember tough words.

Good luck!

But I got a disappointing score

Do you think this score would earn me MS in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering?
