V590 Q800 A4.5

Hi all.
I have got a score of 1390 in GRE(800+590).People tell me that this is a decent score but I have my doubts. .I have to apply in fall 2006 n I presently doin Comp engg from Chandigarh.I have got decent recos and my GPA is 3.5.I have sent my score only to univs ranked in top 10 until now.
Can someone tell me where do I fit in now and where do I stand a good chance of being selected.

my percentile ranking is 81 in verbal and 92 in quant.I was taken aback by the quant percentile as I had 800/800 in quant.But it seems that a lot many people are getting the perfect score in quant.
And may be that is why the GRE guys have made this section tougher.

congrats on your score.......how did you prep yourself for maths section what material or strategy ?? cud u please elaborate ?

i didnt pay much attention to maths fundamentals.I jus practiced a lot of question papers...about 30-35 of them.The papers were mainly from powerprep,barrons,kaplan.
But they have made the maths section tougher and if your basics are not clear then its better to work upon them before the test.

Its a Good Score! n hope u make it to ur dream schools

for 1390 i think as far as GRE is concerned u have done a good job! try n make ur other aspects like recos n all good.. Start plannin for ur SOP also... n i feel u shud also apply to some univs in range of 25-40 or so... just so that u have some back up!


n Hey how was ur prep for Verbal?? were the words mainly frm Barrons?? n how was difficulty compared to Powerprep!! thanx for ur guidance

well,yes most of the words were from barrons and one was also a repetition from powerprep.Pay attention to the words having 2 meanings.Learn both the meanings.for example ,in the antonym section u might be knowing one meaning of the word but all the options may be referring to the other.

well during the final days of my prep my score in the tests was-

in powerprep
q800 v560
q800 v580

in kaplan
q800 v480
q800 v520

In the other tests like barrons...i dont exactly remember but Q was always 800 and V was oscillating b/w 480 and 560.
