Re: Q800 V720 :)
Congratulations ISH,
Q800 V720.... Excellent score! ![]() Well the score does commensurate with the arduous efforts you have put in. Well deserved success for you because you are one of the persons who has been most proactive in posting practice questions here at TestMagic. I look forward to a comprehensive post from you ..where in you can share the strategies..the time schedule..and all the related things with us. It will serve as a mentor's motivation for us. Maybe it is the next sticky after flounder & zorrillo's post. Anyways what are your future plans? Are you an ECE applicant or what? Congratulations Once again. Regards, Nitin Kaul |

Re: Q800 V720 :)
Thanks for the replies.
Let's see now about my "debriefing". Four things helped me most during the months of prep. TM TM TM practice (like mad) That established, lets start with math. ![]() Well, I'm a math undergrad, so maths wasnt a big issue for me. I love working stuff out, and I used both Barron's math, and PR, both of which I felt were quite substandard, compared to PP. I felt the GMAT OG was much better, and a great part of my math prep was using that book. When I first joined here at TM, the GRE forums weren't that active, and the math forum especially. I used to stalk the GMAT PS section each day, looking for sums. The GMAT forum rocks! I began working out on PP review sums just around the last month or so. The math section is very much like the PP reviews. work on combinations and permutations and standard deviation sums. These come up when you're doing well, and can stump you if you havent practised enough. Esp the standard deviation sums, of which there is no mention in most prep books. This is where the GMAT forum helped me a lot. 45 minutes is more than sufficient time to finish the quants section, IMO. I just made sure that my first ten sums were right, and after that it was just fine. If you are absolutely sure of your first ten sums, it does wonders for your confidence. I was of the opinion that standard deviation sums are quite rare. They're not. I got 2 SD sums today. (Arjensteve, you reading this? Thanks for the help) I also got 2 combinations sums, pretty simple ones. I got quite a few geometry sums. I didnt get a single distance sum, or a time-work sum. Wierd, but true. After all the time I spent working on these two especially infuriating types of problems. On to verbal. I just have one thing to say. READ. Its much more helpful than wordlists. I read in an earlier TM post by someone, that reading pgw each night helped him more than all the worldlists. I agree totally. For those of you who dont like novels, visit www.aldaily.com daily. its an amazing site. I'm not saying that wordlists are useless. In fact the Barrons list is excellent, and a lot of their high frequency words are just that, high frequency. But reading is just as important, I think. I got a killer RC which was what lowered my score. I hate RC so much, always have. The rest were pretty much okay, though I felt the standard was higher than that of PPs. I'd like to thank TM. Its the best. This is such an amazing place for prep, and I am quite addicted. Also a big thanks to steve, Arjmen, Illusionz, dsaqwert, Nuthan (for the hundreds of sums you post. ), ahwig, bigduke, namith. You guys rock!and nitin, i didnt work with any specific timetable. i just made sure i did a little work each day. i took around 20 practice tests. they are critical for prep.
