1390 GRE: Advice on GRE CAT score
Hi,
Finished my test recently. I only have my Q&V scores. Q-760 V-630 I don't have my AWA scores yet and I don't know the percentiles on the Q&V sections. I am not sure about my AWA performance. It is not outstanding, at least not in my mind. I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling with this score. I am especially not pleased with my V score. I am contempating taking it again. What's your advice? Do you honestly think I can improve on my V score. I studied pretty hard. I work full time and studied evenings and weekends. I mastered the word list in Barrons. Still the V score is not up there. I would like to get some feedback on my scores. I have my eyes set on a few top schools for Engineering for my masters. I have a few years of experience and already have a graduate degree from US and my GPA is 3.2 (low for a graduate student). Do you think with these scores I can make it to say one of the Top 5 schools? Really appreciate your advice. Kindly serious responses only please. Thanks |

Hi Arasi,
You do not mention your major, hence no advice can be sure of applying to you... majors like CS are extremely competitive while others are relaxed... some of the top schools don't take GRE very seriously (like Stanford) but since your GPA too is a little low, you might face a problem (one which even retaking GRE will not solve)... In general, let me tell you one should retake only if they are sure of improving 100+ in any section... so unless you think you can get 740 V and 800 Q, you should not retake... of course in engineering quant matters more.. best, Attraxion. |
