Hey,
I've been a visitor of the site for quite awhile. I gave my GRE two days ago..my score : Q 800 V 690 I'm pretty happy with it, although believe I could have done better....there's a world of difference between a 1490 and a 1500, at least that's what I think. Now that I'm on a cable connection, I would be more than happy to critique essays and/or any other stuff. |

hi sm,
Congrats for gr8 score especially in Quants :-) I want to ask u abt the level of questions related to probability and permutation & combination and statistics. I mean r they standard type of questions or tricky ones with long calculations. and r thr any questions from Conics topic. I m studying quants frm RS AGARWAL book as well as barrion's. for probabilty I m using RD SHARMA. Do u think these books will prepare me enough to get a score near to 800. Also abt Verbal section, wer all words frm barron and also how difficult wer the RC's. CONGRATS once again!!!! Best of Luck for ur future... thanx in advance Vinay |

(intended meaning of doofy : totally CONFUSING ) 2) Whats your current level of study? I'm doin Engineering (electronics) , so I never had a problem in maths.... I was comfortable w/ GRE maths from the outset. Those books, are any Engg. related? if so, you can be pretty much assured you won't have a problem. For Quant, I went through the basics - geometry (circles , Triangles, and the tough obscure theorems) , algebra (ratio prop. , SI/CI , etc etc). You don't need a book devoted to probability. If you're comfortable w/ P&C, you should be well set....I dont think GRE expects you to know Baye's theorem and the like. 3) I was lucky in that the words I got were known , either Barrons or some novels. The RCs were tough...I'm pretty sure that's where I lost out. 4) MOST important, on the day of the test....BE COOL...don't get nervous. I was dead tense...i mean, REALLLY tense. Somehow recovered. Wish you luck..... |

hey, can anyone answer me : (A) is there a word limit on the issue? I've written quite a lengthy one..my instructor says it should be fine. (B) How long before the scores arrive? ss6872...you had obtained an AMAZING score, if i remember...1520 was it? What did you do after you got your scores? |

I looked at the screen closely to see if it was true.
But then , that satisfaction did not remain for long, human nature. Soon i was thinking why i couldnt have scored more, if only i had answered that question the other way, oh i would have had 20 more and all such thoughts. Anyway, AWA i believe the length is not an issue as long as you have conveyed all your thoughts effectively without being too verbose. Iam still awaiting my AWA score though. |

Wow, great score. Awesome!! And don't worry about the "4" in your score--your 1490 should put you well into the 90's in terms of your percentile rank.
And of course, we'll all be very happy if you look at others' essays. ![]() |
