Just took my Gre in the morning.Got a decent score i guess.I got one qa section and two verbal sections.The QA section was quite tough,nonetheless I managed to pull through.I was expecting aarnd 700 in verbal because in my prepartion I got around 700 in the powerprep tests.

Anyways I am happy with the score.Erin how would you rate my score?I am a Computer Science Engineer with 3 years work ex with Siemens.I plan to apply to universities of the likes of Cornell,Carnegie Melon,Stony Brooks.

I would appreciate you advice and thank you for this wonderful group.It has been a part of making my GRE a success.

u have written tht Quants section was tough. Can u pls tell us how tough and in wht terms was it tough.

Also pls can u tell us the major areas frm whr u got the questions in Quants.

Also do u think official matter (Official Guide) correctly describes the matter tht will be on the test?

The questions were a little tricky.Especially the ones related to statistics.But there is nothing out of the ETS prescribed syllabus.

If the fundas are clear.Then it should not be a problem.Certain problems related to Geometry were difficult and required knowledge of similar triangles.By tough I mean that the questions were not that easy as they appear in the PowerPrep's tests.

Make sure that your concepts regarding mean,median and mode,frequency distribution etc are clear.

which book u reffered for Stats?

and pls tell me if thr was anythin u find surprising in the Test.

You just need to brush up the basic concepts about
1) Mean , Median,Mode
2)Frequency distribution
3)Standard Deviation
4)Variance

I did these from the maths tutorial in the PowerPrep CD.
The test was surprising in the sense that the questions were a little
on the tougher side.Some of them i never came across in the PowerPrep or big book tests.The involved using properties of similar triangles etc.But if your fundas are good,it wont be a problem.

Getting 800 in quant is easy.Concentrate More on AWA and Verbal.

My score is 1350 nd i'm from mech with an years exp from GE i'm totally confuesed abt the range of univs i should be applying to.

If you are not sure about the type of universities that you should be considering. You may want to visit your desired university's website and you may be able to find a cutoff GRE score or you can also contact them. They will tell you what type of GRE scores they accepted in the previous year.

I will be applying to Psychology schools and I have a book called: "Graduate School in Psychology." This book has a list of all Psychology programs in the US, Canada, & Puerto Rico and shows a list of how many applicants, cutoff GRE scores, etc.
