Hi Neeraj,
Congrats!! Thats a great score.
How was your AWA and how were the fill-ups and pairs. Also, what was the level of the first 5-10 verbal question.
Best of luck for your future endeavor.
Nitin
Hi friends,
Finaly its over..the ghost of GRE is no more going to give me sleepless nights.... i was awake all night(i tried hard but to sleep..)....when the score showed up..it was all worth it !!!..frankly i never expected such scores...but when the ETS people says it....you have got to believe
i got two quant and one verbal....guess this has been the trend lately...
both quants were ok...except 2-3 questions all other were same as PP(I mean toughness level)...i had one tricky probabiltiy question...that took good amount of time.. otherwise it was all powerprep..
and please please do the practice exercises (atleast for quant) that come with pp CD. there you have questions from the variance, frequency distributions, co-geo etc. i did it last night only...
as regards to verbal....all the words were from Barrons...please stick to barrons if you dont have much time....it is GOD!!
i had 3 RC...2 in succession that too in the final part ...so i could not finish my verbal part....i missed 1 question....
for verbal....The GRE Big Book is sufficient. take all the test..and if have enough time do it twice..
above all, TM is there for all us to look for anytime ...at any hour of the day or night.
we can find huge questions banks on the net( ddd.net ) but the diff here is the interactive learning and the explanation part... people really and take extra effort to explain you the simple and basic fundae of english and maths. Thanks to you all guys !!!!. I wish you luck in all your future endeavours.
Now Comes ERIN---> thanks a zillion man...for this wonderful forum.
somebody on the forum rightly said" TM-- definitive site for GRE prep"
firends I intend to apply for Environmental Management/ science program. please, if anybody on the forum is on the same bus do let me know. Also any suggection related to apping are most welcome...
which univ. is better for the program ?, where i can get aid ? etc
Thanks and best regards
Neeraj

Hey congratulations to u ...................
did a great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
few queries
a)did u fill the questionnaire of your academic background before the exam.i wanted to know if it's optional & does it have to do anything with your getting quants difficult as people say that if u fill in maths background then u get hard quants.
b)u know ,i don't have The GRE Big Book but am practicing from Official Guide & other books .will it suffice.
c)was geometry ok or tough & also co-geo
d)how much time did u spend with the preparation of AWA
Thanx & congratulations once again.
Hi Nitin and Philips,
well my AWA went so-so(awaitng for the scores !!!)..infact i dint prepared at all..i jst read few issue and argument topics form the site before the D-day. but yes i did prepared a format for both issues and argument essays. that was the only reason i was able to cpmplete both sections just in time. .
well SC and Analogies were at level par with The GRE Big Book . but all were new .havent come across anyone before. b were not hard. bridges were direct. please try to get your first 10 q right.. as i know i answered 1 probab. question incorrect (guess it was 20 th q) ans still i managed 800.
Philips, I dint fillup the questionnaire as it was optional...and i was already nervous... so dint wanted to waste time...so i cannot really comment on it.
i guess Official Guide and other books should be sufficient.. only thing is have handson practice with CBT tests. timing is really imp. so try to do as many as cbt tests as possible.
IF you are located somewhere near mumbai...i can loan you my The GRE Big Book though !!
geometery and co-geo were both direct and easy. dont worry... but please do the practice exercises provided along with the PP CD . it will help you know what to expect on real GRE.
HTH !!!!

I want to ask a stupid question. The GRE Big Book apparantly is barron's book. But what is Official Guide? And what books apart from barron's should I use to score above 780 in quant? I will be taking my GRE in bangalore in a month.
Thanking u in advance,
Leena
Hi Leena,
The GRE Big Book though likely to give such impression is not a Barron's Book, but a official publication of ETS and contains 27 ACTUAL GRE TESTS. and Official Guide is acronym for official guide to GRE. I dint had Official Guide (so cannot really comment on it. I guess you need to purchase it from the ETS) but had Barrons it was quite helpful in terms , it provide lot of helpful tricks and types of questions asked on the GRE. you could do good by refering to R S Agarwal for practicing quant and most imp.!!remain hooked to the quant section of this site. it has almost 500 questions posted on variety of topics with explantions . please also go through in detail the maths review provided by the ETS. It contians the syllabus and also the type and level of questions likely to be tested on the actual GRE. Finally, the practice exercises provided by the ETS Powerprep contians the essence of the likely GRE quant.
...and best of luck ....do not worry you are going to crack it !!!
HTH !!!
Neeraj
Hi christina,
thanks !!.
Well it s good your doing guru's list..many on he forum say that its good. frankly speaking i did my vocab Barron's only.. dint had much time..so i cannot really comment which one is better....but i would suggest be it GURU or BARRON or BOTH..do with full commitment.
best of luck with your preparations !!!
