Hv u worked pn CAT tests frm 800score (quants), if yes then can u share throw some light on the simmilarity between them n real GRE problems. I just took a CAT test frm 800score n got 590 whereas i got a score of 710+ in barrons, pp1,etc. Does 800 score signify the difficulty level of GRE in ne way.

My comments about 800 score:
1. Take the same test 3 times and tell me if the questions were different or not. When I did it, 95% of the questions were the same. How could it be"adaptive" then? 2. Count the number of "quantitative comparison" questions in the test. When I did it I found a few. Please, tell us if you tried 800 score and had a similar experience. Peter |

Peter,
Did you get the same score for each test? The pool is probably limited if you're talking about the free tests they offer. In general, no practice tests are accurate indicators. Just learn what you can from them. PowerPrep is as close as you will come to a true score. |

Hi friends
I agree with you. The level and the variety of questions is much better in 800score than in other traditional books. You can see probability, permutations & combinations, coordinate geometry and other topics you cannot find in other tests. The score you receive is very helpful. Unfortunately, the pool is limited and it doesnīt have many quantitative comparison questions. Has anybody tried the CATs from Computer Adaptive Test Prep - Practice Exams, Testing Software, Accurate Score Assessments I have checked the CATs for the GMAT. The pool of questions is limited (I calculate 50 for 37 questions in math, for example), but the level of difficulty is harder and the score you get is closer to the one in the real GMAT. I donīt know if it is the same in the GRE CATs. If you have the information, please let me know. Thanks Peter |

yea even I have got the same doubt........first for the preparation is it better to start with Quant section in Big book and then go for barrons,Kaplan and Princeton review and finally go for CATs just when we are very much in good shape????????
Is practicing from big book not a good option esp for Quants??? |

Hi chet,
Even i was in a dillema like you. From my experience i suggest you do barrons 1st. Read the tactics and do all exercise problems. Then comes the Big Boss i mean Big Book I have worked on so many books but nothing gave me a feel of exam like BB did. I have thrown everything else to trash, and now BB is my bible. Just go for it ... All the best Thanks |
