Question Will a AWA of 4.5 hurt my chances ?

I finally got my AWA score and its only 4.5 (54 percentile ) .Will that hurt so much ? My gre scores in general otherwise are pretty good.

Quant - 780/800 (90 percentile)
Verbal - 740/800 (99 percentile)

Has anyone faced an issue because of a lower AWA score ?

I am planning to apply for an MS in electrical and computers.

Relax Mervin as far as i hv known n heard thy AWA score wont b a bane in the application process. The panel does observe some clemency for engineering courses.

I will cite an ex

One of my bro's frnd had a 1300+ score in GRE with around 3.5 in AWA, she applied for Kelley MSIM prgm. Now if u got to Kelley site it sayz that they need a avg score of 4 but she still got the admit. Advice u too relax thy nerves.

Best Wishes

I think you will do just fine. Your Quant and Verbal scores are so excellent that even if you had done poorly on AWA you would be alright.

I highly doubt it. Just contact the schools your interested in and ask them how they weigh the AWA section. 4.5 is a solid score anyway. I wouldn't re-take it again because of that.

I've tried Cambridge, it's hard to compare because I haven't take the GRE yet. The verbal seemed easy.

For Awa, ETS releases all the potential questions. I would look over the list and just see if you can brainstorm topics for them at random.

Thanks everyone and sorry for the late response.

Regarding AWA I hardly prepared for it,I think I practiced like 4-5 Issue Essays and read through some sample Argument essays to get an idea of how the essay should be structured.

If you have time try to practice essay writing atleast once a week and try to do it under timed conditions .Also try to get into the habit of brainstorming in a short time to try and good examples for the issue essay
