Well, I'll be ... !

Turns out that I too gave VT as one of my choices, and yeah I had to find that its actual name is Virginia Polytechnic and State University.
i did give Virginia tech as one of the options, maybe we'll meet there

well, actually, the only preparation i did for the quant section was to give 2 tests before begining preparation and about 4-5 tests prior to the actual gre test. I am quite strong at math, and almost always got full in the practice tests, so i really dint feel the need to practice or even look up any formulae or concepts. srry, if i wasnt of much help.

i gave a barrons CD test when i began preparation ( a month before the gre )
and after that i also gave a gre bible math test. I got 800 in both, so i never studied quant portions, did just the verbal part and went directly to the princeton tests a week and a half before the test. I then gave some 5 complete tests like barrons, kaplan, Arco, and of course, powerprep. except in the 2nd powerprep, in which i got 790, in the rest i scored 800, so i really had no problem in the GRE quant section

Hey Oink -

Dunno if you'll remember this, but did you see any "unfamiliar" Quant questions?

That is, did you find yourself saying, "Oh yeah, I remember a question like this from Barron's (or whatever)", or was it more like, "OK, I've never seen this in my practice tests, but I know what to do".

not really.. actually i since i had hardly practiced quant, there never was really a chance of a deja vu ...i just went on solving, especially as i thought i had screwed up verbal, and hence needed to perform properly in quant in order to get a decent score...so i guess it was more of "Ok, I've never seen this in my practice tests, but i know what to do". but yea , in verbal, i did find some of big book type questions ..

I'm not Oink, but I did not encounter any unfamiliar question types. If you review Barron's and powerprep you will see the same types of questions. There was nothing unexpected. Some questions were just tedious though or had multiple steps.

I had one combination problem. No probability problems that I remember. But that doesn't mean that one won't show up on your test!
