DrDre
Hey guys! First of all, thanks to this great forum. I managed to answer my TOEFL with very limited study. I got my scores today: (R:28, L:26: W:24, S:24: Total 102) And I am more than happy. :) To be honest....I hardly studied for the TOEFL. I just did the TOEFL Official guide from ETS. But I am more than thankful to this thread on this forum: http://www.www.urch.com/forums/just-finished-my-toefl/120279-finally-i-got-it.html I just followed the suggestions on this thread. This is how I prepared. 1. For reading...i did not have to struggle much since I have answered the GRE twice. So reading passages and answering those questions had never been a problem. I practiced (with a timer) on all the passages on the TOEFL OG. (TOEFL Official Guide to iBT Volume 1). I had a good rate of accuracy for most of the passages. So did not worry much. 2. For listening.....did about 2 tests on the OG. Found this pretty easy. So did not practice more. 3. For speaking...this is where I struggled. I was nervous....stammering...and getting confused. Did not do well on the practice as well. So I hit upon the above thread on this forum and just practiced based on the formats mentioned in that thread. And it clicked. :) 4. For writing....never had a problem for the independent writing....I knew I would do well since its pretty much close to the GRE (analysis of an issue). Had a problem with the integrated writing...so practiced a few tests and thatz all I could do in limited time. In total, I must have studied for about a week ( about 2-3 hrs per day). But I took the tests on the OG VERY SERIOUSLY! If I can do it....so can you. Just practice the OG with a proper timer and you should be fine. All the best! :)
