Hey guys, Guess what i got 101 when i gave the toefl for the first time with 24 in speaking section and i need 26 to pass the toefl so i gave it for rescoring and i got 27 so now i passed. hurraayyyyyy. I think the system is screwed up as in rescoring they said very fluent and clear english. whereas in previous evaluation they said problem with intonation and unclear speach.

hi bhumidesai..I too got my rescore results & passed, so whether we have to specially request them to report our new scores not old scores?BTW, are you a pharmacist? please reply.

hello, very proud of your scores! quick question thou...what is "rescore" and how did yall do that? does ets allow you to send your test back to be regraded?

Hey Bhumidesai Congratulations! Tonight i too got the good news. I took the TOEFl Exam for Eight times (YES EIGHT TIMES !). I had to retake the test because my score in the speaking part was not sufficient to meet the NABP requirements eventhough I did very well in the other three sections. But finally on my Eight try, I had the courage to request for a rescore. My previous score was 24 ( fair-fair-good), with the help of a lot of prayers my score was changed to 26 (good-good-fair) , the funny thing is that the score for my third reponse was changed from good to fair. Anyway, my total score was bumped up from 109 to 111. And YES i finally made it! This just proves that our score (and even our future) would depend mainly on the person rating our response. Some people may rate our response as fair and some as good. Which also proves that our TOEFL scores would not accurately reflect our competency of the English laanguage. By the way, I'm also with the group (headed by KNOK) that advocates the idea of using IELTS as an alternative in assesing a candidates competency of the english language. And also looking into the required score of 26 in the speaking part for foreign graduates which we find too high and unfair, knowing that the average score of test takers whose native language is English is only 20.
Anyway, guys, if you do fail at your first attempt at the TOEFL Exam, Never give up. Never let this set-back dishearten you from chasing the American Dream. For the American Dream is alive and well!!!

Hey Bhumi desai, I appeared for Toefl on 1st february 2008. Today I received my results,I got 27-r,24-l,24-s,29-w. All three sections are good, but I got 2 marks less in speaking inorder to comply with the requirements of NABP. As such my speaking section was quite good. I am thinking of rescoring. Can you please let me know how long it took for you to get the rescoring results? I would highly appreciate your response on this.

Oh, thanks very much for this info! I didn't know before I can "rescore" a speaking section. I thought I have to "retake" a test.

I got 103 with 19 speaking, so that I would like to improve my speaking score! It is very convenient that I can do on particular section.

S:20

W:25

total: 102

I thought I would get at least 25 in speaking , and in writing I expected around 28.
Even though it's enough for my admission , I still consider to rescore my speaking section

I would like to have more information about that!
Any Suggestion?

I got the info below from ETS. I was wrong at one point. I cannot retake a speaking section; rescoring means ETS will just reconsider your score. It will probably be unchanged.

If the review results in a change in your score, you will receive a revised examinee score record. Revised official score reports will also be sent to the institutions that you designated as score recipients. These revised scores will become your official scores.
To request rescoring, complete the TOEFL iBT Rescoring Request Form and send it, with the required fee, to the address on the form. This form can be downloaded from the TOEFL web site at http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL...quest_form.pdf

Hi,

I took the test on 1st February. I got required score in each section except speaking. I got 24 and I need 26. But again bad luck, I got no change.

So, I have to go for exam third time. I don't know when this battle will end. It's paining me.
