i took my toefl test today. I found TM website only few days back.
My score 30,13+,30 Range(243+) Erins evaluation of my essay(24 hr service) gave me the much needed last minute shock to shake off some slackness i had, before the test. Having said that i find him very liberal in his evaluation of essays that are posted on the forum?? best wishes to everyone harish |

Hello there!
I think I know who you are, and I'm glad that you realized that you should put in the extra effort to make your essay as good as you were obviously able to. Your score is pretty good, and if you spent the whole time writing the essay, you should be okay. As for any "slackness" I might show here in the forums, I have to say honestly that I make it a point not to inflate scores; in fact, I often do the opposite. In several places I say that I prefer to score essays lower rather than higher if there's any doubt at all. Believe me, there's nothing worse to a teacher than to hear that his student received a score lower than the one she received in class. The so-called power to inflate grades is therefore to my mind one that should be used judiciously. And remember, TOEFL does NOT require any great writing skills--they are looking simply for adequate writing. GMAT and GRE, now that's another story!! I doubt if my score is a real indicator of my listening skills. Is it related with familiarity of the topic concerned?? I still find it difficult to follow dialogues in english movies and whenever possible i enable subtitles to watch english movies. cheers harish |
