Well, you know guys, it is not the end of the world, we can take this test as many times as we want (not like some of the professional tests - I already blow one of the three attempts in my test)
So try to relax ![]() Rameses - I also did mistakes in speaking and even I realased I did a mistake it was not time to correct - that's why the speaking part of toefl is horrible ![]() rubiagirl - I choose a nearest location form my home, I'm in Vancouver, Canada |

I gave it on May 3rd too and my Reading section was HORRIBLE!
My test center was Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. I couldn't believe the reading was soo tough. It just wasn't registering in my mind. I just couldn't grasp the subject. Something about ice and glaciers and all that #@$$I'm really tense about my results! ![]() |

Hi there! I took that very same TOEFL on May 3rd (in NYC). I also got the five reading passages. I had a hard time with the first one, probably because I always start slow and build momentum as I go (not to mention that unfortunately migration and glaciation theories are not my cup of tea). I'm just hoping that my scores will be better than I expected! They do say people tend to underestimate their scores after the exam.
And about the noise, I definitely wore the headphones the whole time. And I tried to hurry up to get to the speaking sections before people near me (but then, I was one of the first people to start, so that helped). I had to hear them speaking while I was writing the essays, though, but I think that's less distracting than while trying to answer the readings. And for the person who asked about Manhattan, there's a center two blocks from Penn station. I ended up going somewhere else, though. |

Hello everybody!
As I see, May 3rd wasn't such a good day, but after all I hope you'll get the desirous score. Thank you Solved for your tip regarding Manhattan location, but my big problem is that I can not find a specific location. For NY city location (Manhattan should be included) says only "Fri, May 16", and I would like to take the test on June or July. About the other locations for June or July, they state only the area and not the specific place. For instance, Brooklyn, or Queens- which represents a large area. Which is the procedure to select a precesely place? Thank you, and good luck! ![]() |

Well, you should be able to see the exact dates and locations once you start the registration process. You don't need to go ahead and pay right away, but I think it's the only way to get exact information. There's two links that have test info, one in TOEFL>Register>United States>New York where you scroll down and have a list or locations. That one only says the area and date.
To get the exact dates and locations, instead of scrolling down from that page, go to iBT Register Online and once you're done registering with the website, click Register for a Test/Order scores>TOEFL test>I agree. And there you'll have to enter the location and date info again and you'll get the actual dates and addresses for each center. I found several differences from what seems to be available in each link. I get these dates in Manhattan between June 6th and August 2nd: July 11th 1 PENN PLAZA SUITE 1540 NEW YORK 10119 8 a.m. Aug 2nd 1 PENN PLAZA SUITE 1540 NEW YORK 10119 8 a.m. Aug 2nd 675 Third Avenue Second Floor New York 10017 8 a.m. I'm not familiar enough with the area to know if any other one is in Manhattan or not. Btw, make sure you look into "New York City" as a location and not just "Manhattan". They seem to be mixed up. Actually, I would look into each one of the New York State locations just in case a Manhattan one slipped by. It's a rather confusing system. However, as an aside note, I don't know if I got confused or if my center actually changed from the moment I decided to register to when I actually signed up, because at first I am sure it was in Brooklyn, but when everything was done I ended up having to go to Queens! But I registered very last-minute (2 days before the test), so it might have been my own mistake (although I could swear the only May noon test was in Brooklyn, and Queens wasn't even an option when I signed up). In short, be careful and check twice before finalizing the registration! I had a very tight commute. |

I was scare to register online, because I thought that I have to register for the test, too. That's good to know.
I prefer Manhattan because is close to my place, and also I think the computers are in a good shape (I hope so ).Thanks a lot Solved, and keep in touch with this issue. |

Tseprep - thank you!
pheone - you know what? I didn't get "ice and glaciers" so it would meen it was a test reading that you've got ![]() Rubiagirl - don't be scared to regester on the web site. I regestered and I was planning to be regestered for the test on line but that was some problems whith site (or my computer ) so I ended up calling them and regestered via phone. However it is easier to check your score on line and they give you a trial test/ |

LadyJane, I've been basing all my hopes on that assumption: that the first reading about the glaciations and migration was one of the test ones. I was just about to come and ask if the test passages are always the last two or if it could be the first one as well. If that is not scored I will feel infinitely better!
I thought it was ridiculously tough next to the other ones, which for me were flora propagation in Hawaii, marine animals in the Antarctic ocean, some ancient Mediterranean beads, and self-reflection practice for teachers, if I recall correctly. |
