    Career change options for Math Teacher...HELP!!!

    Dear Posters,

    I have been working as a math teacher (university lecturer) for the past 6 years. Very interested in seeking a math related career outside of academia.

    I plan to go back to school to complete another degree & am looking for the degree
    that will allow for the most job flexibility.

    Which degree do you think would provide most flexibility and help land good job?
    -1-M.S. in Applied Statistics
    -2-M.S. in Financial engineering
    -3-M.S. in Applied mathematics

    Any advice would be great.

    You are not getting may responses because this is the sub-forum for people seeking a Ph.D. in business;

    A Ph.D. in finance would make you a lot of money, but the top schools don't want to train people to make money in the private sector; but rather to be researchers in academic institutions.

    The pay* and lifestyle in academia isn't bad at all (120k+ starting): do you simply hate research?

    *finance and business-related academia.. not math

    I've moved this to the lounge, as that seems the only place that this will fit.

    First of all, what the heck is"Financial engineering"???

    Second, what do the people at your school have to say? Talk to whoever offers those programs and see what they have to say. They should be able to tell you what their graduates are up to! Are they doing the kind of things that YOU want to be doing?
