200 applications only? That's a rather low number... Probably has something to do with the better job market this year? Anyway, though unlikely, I hope we face less stiff competition as a result.

Thanks! Anyway, the number is normal in my field. In other fields, you have more applicants, but also more admissions. 3 out of 200 is normal for a small university/program like this. I know that for fields like CS and EE, they admit many more applicants, but they also receive more applications.
Comp lit is a relatively small field and is never really influenced by job market fluctuations, unlike many other, more practical fields.
